Post: I’m running a Zidoo Z9X Pro (RTD1619BPD) and having trouble with Home Theater 5.0 (v4.3.40). Even though I have local poster art saved in the movie folders, HT5.0 is ignoring those files and pulling artwork from TMDB. Local posters are named correctly and placed alongside the movie files. I have "Use local images first" toggled on I have NFO parse set to prioritize parsing of NFO files HT5.0 scans the library but doesn’t apply the local art. Has anyone else seen this behavior on the Z9X Pro? Is there a setting I’m missing to force HT5.0 to use the local poster art instead of scraping new ones? Thanks in advance for any guidance. Additional info: Libraries are on an Unraid Share connected via NFS. Trouble began when I upgraded to: zidoo_poster_RT-D1619B-v4.3.4.0 The prior version would not show actor images, but did load local poster artwork no problem.
Nope - never seen that - If the art is there and correctly named, HT always picks it up even without a rescan - if you toggle the option on and off it flips between online and local art. Can you send a screen grab of an affected movie. I'd also recommend updating to the latest version, it has a lot of updated features: HT5 v5.0.68 Beta Version for Realtek 1619BPD (UPDATED) | Zidoo forum
Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and updated to the beta version you linked. Restarted and it immediately started a scan of my entire library. I have 6,000+ movies so it took about 8-9 hours to complete. Unfortunately it's still using TMDB posters. It's easy for me to tell because I have a separate 4K library and I manually add "4K Ultra HD" banners to each poster and out of 300+ titles only a tiny fraction (6-8 movies) are using local poster artwork with that banner. As a test I did "clean library" from the menu on my 4K movie source, rescanned and same thing, TMDB covers. Another issue I noticed is when I go to the MOVIES section which should contain all 6k+ movies it only shows 250 movies, but when I go to my Sources it shows the correct/actual count(s). Should I factory reset? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Not sure what's going on here - 6000 is a lot of movies, but it definitely shouldn't take 8 or 9 hours! Scraping speed depends whether MediaInfo is used as that has to parse the file and bigger files take longer to parse, but even then I think I measured the speed at about 1.2s per movie - so that should be about 2 hours. I did a test library (albeit small test files) of 4000 last week and it was way less than an hour to scrape. And again, I've never seen an instance where if a poster is correctly named it doesn't get picked up. It sounds like the database is screwed - a factory reset won't help as this is a mechanism withing the HT app so I'd suggest a full reset of HT (HT/Settings/Data Manager/Clear Data > CLEAR). A full reset is the only way to clear the database - even "Clean Library" leaves a load of crap in there - I've said this for years: Database housekeeping in HT is abysmal. Sorry - I should have been more specific above in my request - can you post a screenshot of the folder view in Windows of an affected movie - I know you said you'd named them correctly but I want to see if there's something in the naming convention that could cause it.
Thanks again for the help. Here's a screenshot of an affected movie's folder along with a screenshot from Zidoo (controller app) of the same movie.
Well, I'm embarrassed, and my apologies for not reading that thoroughly before. One thing throwing me off was that my 3D library is picking up my custom posters named "poster.jpg." Nevertheless, I'll run a script to name posters correctly. Moving on, any idea why my source(s) list the correct number of movies but the Movies section does not? I have 3 sources: 3D=23 titles, 4K=356 titles, and films=5499 titles, but when I enter the main movie section/tile on the Home Theater main page, it only lists 1243 titles. Should I go ahead and do as you mentioned: a full reset of HT (HT/Settings/Data Manager/Clear Data > CLEAR)?
Honestly don't worry - easy mistake to make and to be honest I knew they were named incorrectly because I know it works if they're right - I was trying to be tactful As for the scraping I'm not sure. There will always be a disparity between what you see on say the Movies or ALL page and the number of movies you have because a number of them will be in collections, so a collection may have 5 or 10 movies it but will only take up one poster on the posterwall. But with knocking on 6000 titles and only 1243 listed on a presumably unfiltered MOVIES posterwall, there's something wrong. My gut feeling is a corrupt database which in my book is rip it up and start again! Since you're comfortable writing scripts, and with such a massive library, you may want to jump on this beta that another user is running - early days yet but I think this will be an incredibly useful utility once it's finessed a bit: Z-Keeper.com - Master your Zidoo media library | Zidoo forum
TBH, I am not actually any good with scripts, I use ChatGPT and just finished tweaking a script that does exactly what I needed though, it duplicates the poster.jpg file with the exact filename of the movie file with -poster.jpg. It's working perfect and HT5.0 picked up all my covers As far as the missing movies go I figured that out...I have a script that sends information to Emby that creates collections based on year/decade; "Decades 1920s" "Decades 1930s" etc. Somehow HT 5.0 picked up these collections. I'm baffled how though, the script doesn't write to any nfo files just to Emby's api. Not sure if I should start a new thread but...Is it possible to somehow recreate this in HT 5.0 without removing whichever movies are in a collection from the flat view of All Movies? I looked into just using filters but it's limited. It only goes to the 1990s and only has "Before 1990" I'd guess 80-85% of my movies are pre 1990. Thanks for your help!
The only way HT can put movies into collections is either if an online scrape dictates it or it sees a <set>...</set> entry in an NFO. First thing is to check some NFOs of missing movies, or those in Collections that shouldn't be there to see if there's a <set>...</set> entry in it. Bet there is...
You are correct again sir! there are <set> in the NFOs. But I had to stop using NFOs because when I did actors' images were all blank. I don't suppose there's a way to use them AND get actors' images?
If you use NFOs and the NFOs contain <actor>...</actor> and <director>..</director> tags in an NFO then the data is taken from there. So if there is no reference to an image (either local or online) in that tag then no image is shown. This is an example of an NFO with such tags as exported by the Zidoo itself. If you scroll down to the actor/director tags you can see <thumb> tags for the image, so as long as the tag is valid, the image will be shown: Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><movie> <title>Legend</title> <originaltitle>Legend</originaltitle> <ratings> <rating name="" max="10" default="true"> <value>7.055</value> <votes>4124</votes> </rating> </ratings> <plot>Suave, charming and volatile, Reggie Kray and his unstable twin brother Ronnie start to leave their mark on the London underworld in the 1960s. in your case, I would assume that the actor tags do not contain thumb tags. An easy workaround is to remove the director and actor tags entirely and then, even though you're scraping with NFOs, because the actor/director tags are missing, that detail is picked up online - so the NFO has given HT the correct movie and the cast detail is then picked up accurately online and the image is shown.
