Hey everyone, just wanted to share a neat little workaround I stumbled upon with the Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2. Officially, it doesn’t really support Bluetooth headphones as an output device, but I found a fun trick. By installing the Bowers & Wilkins app through an alternative app store (like Aura Shop), I managed to get into a hidden Bluetooth pairing menu that’s not normally visible. It only seems to support AAC as the highest codec for now, but hey, it works! Maybe this will help someone else looking to connect their Bluetooth headphones. Cheers!
Bluetooth Trick? No Trick needed! Install settings.apk on DMP, get root access, pair your bluetooth device as usual in android, done.
Ah, thanks for the tip! I’ll admit it — I’m not very deep into the Android world, so my little discovery honestly felt kind of mind-blowing to me I had no idea about settings.apk and root access. Sounds like there’s a whole lot more to explore. I really appreciate the pointer — I’ll definitely give that a try!

View attachment 20999 A remark on the aac codec. If you turn off the AAC (connection settings of the BT device) the number of details increases enormously. I must say the BT connection is very unstable. (Sony WH-1000XM4) BT imo is not fit for HQ music.
Just like on the iPhone, I find the limitation to SBC and AAC not ideal for headphones that support higher-quality codecs such as LDAC or aptX Lossless. That’s why I’ve been using the Fiio BT11 or the Sennheiser BTD700 with the Eversolo, which gives me access to additional Bluetooth codecs — and it works very well.
It works like a USB DAC from the Eversolo’s perspective, even though the dongle itself is only acting as a Bluetooth transmitter. The actual digital-to-analog conversion still happens in the headphones’ own DAC. So the dongle is basically just providing the additional BT codecs while the audio conversion remains on the receiver side.
The pairing process is pretty easy with both dongles mentioned above. First, you plug the dongle into the Eversolo’s USB port. As soon as it powers on, it goes into pairing mode. The BTD 700 also has a physical button you can press to start pairing manually in case it doesn’t do so automatically. If the headphones are in pairing mode at the same time as the dongle, they will connect automatically. I’ve tried this with the B&W PX7 S3 and the Yamaha YH-L700A without any issues. If you need LDAC, you should go with the FiiO BT11 or any other dongle that supports this codec. The Sennheiser BTD 700 doesn’t.
Is this trick only for Gen 2? I've only just got set up with a secondhand A6 and have used the optical out to a little Sennheiser BT unit to pair to my B&Ws but straight to the A6 would be a neater option.
I've used a Bluetooth USB dongle on my A6 Gen1 and it works fine in coupling a Bluetooth headphone. The other method is to enable Bluetooth output using the android settings apk route discussed earlier in this thread.
Hi, the dongle would be for me as I don’t trust my skills getting to Developer Mode etc. I don’t think I can get rid of my Sennheiser BT T1000 as I will still need it for my Phono headphones connection.
The bt 11 is working but I cannot connect to my tablet. So I cannot change the default setting. So the connection is extremely poor quality
