I'm not sure where to post my feedback to the testing, because there are some threads in different boards. I also start with some structure for the feedback, probably helpful for the developers. Seems good to me, to post only one issue in one post. Feel free to move this post in a more fitting thread and please tell me, where you moved it. IMHO would it be a good idea, to collect all feedback in one thread here in the Eversolo board (not hidden in any sub-boards). Device/FW/App > DMP-A6/1.5.30/iOS 1.2.48 Issue > Music Library Feedback > I have several albums with various artists. In my metadata I habe the album artist and on every track the artist. For editing of the music metadata I use MusicBianz Picard. My music on the USB-SSD is organized in folders, by the album artist, then the album in a folder. On my DMP-A8 with FW 1.5.10 I see 161 artists, as i want, works fine for me. On my DMP-A6 with FW 1.5.30 I see with the same app on the iPad 1523 artists, too much for me. Approach > Make it like VLC, there is in the artist view a option "Hide featured artist"
Album missing in artist view Device/FW/App > DMP-A6/1.5.30/iOS 1.2.48 Issue > Music Library Feedback > On my DMP-A8 with 1.5.10 I see at the artist "Space Night" (in metadata as albumartist) 5 albums, on my DMP-A6 with 1.5.30 only one album. See the screenshots in the attachment and also the metadata from MusicBianz Picard. It seems, that the albums are broken in parts and only shown at the track artist. Approach > No idea On the device with 1.5.10 On the device with 1.5.30 Metadata track seen in both Metadata not seen in 1.5.30
There are so many more than A8. What kind of artists have more than A8? Let’s take a look at the screenshots and share them.
Uh, sorry my English is not very good, what I mean is what kind of artists will A6 have more than A8, are they repeated artists or new artists.
I investigated a little bit more and did not only a "Rescan" of the music library, I also did a "Rebuild" and this shows a little difference. On the DMP-A8 with the FW 1.5.10 I see the Artist "Space Night" and 4 Albums, as usual: On the DMP-A6 with FW 1.5.30 I see the Album artist, also the Albums ... ... but no Artist "Space Night", but tonns of Artists from all the tracks on this and some other samplers: Very extreme it is, with the Artist "Schiller" and all his collaborations with other artists, 54 in numbers: Sorry, like this, the Artists View of the Library is totally useless, because of the tonns of artists with only one track. A Switch between "Artist" and "Album Artist" in the view solves the problem. On may DMP-A8, the device für daily use, I stay on the 1.5.10.
In all collaboration albums, the proper tagging should be (I just took an example from the above, Cristina Scabbia): ARTIST: Schiller ARTIST: Cristina Scabbia ALBUMARTIST: Schiller Then you chose ALBUM ARTIST when searching for Schiller; and will probably still get ALL his collaborations listed under ARTIST, as expected. Of course, if these are SINGLE tracks, and their ALBUM is different, The Eversolo is doing its job in classifying them PER ARTIST / PER ALBUM, unless you tag all these single tracks with a fictious ALBUM tag content, for example "Albumless Singles".
See this Post > #85 On the device are the different kinds of Artist "Artist" and "Album Artist", but not in the App, and the App uses different fields with the different FW versions. In the past, I did not recognize the different views on the device, because I always use the App. Two times the same field with different content in the metadata, really?
I understand. This is because the music library previously merged artists with similar names together. Now the artist name requirements seem to be more stringent.
More artist tags are allowed (depending on the tagging system) Same as more GENRE tags are, instead of one only, with comma/semicolon/pipe/whatsoever separated lists These are the two most relevant, but there are others.
The solution for my problem has mysteriously arrived (or I was bind the last days ) Here in the App is now not only a view for "Artists", also "Album artist" and "Composer" That works great for me
UPDATE: Oh shock , just updatetd my DMP-A8 to 1.5.30 and no data in the "Album artists" view. But a library rebuilt did the trick
Hello, I am experiencing the same issue with the library, but in addition, the apps on a Samsung tablet and a Pixel 9 Pro have stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled them, cleared the cache... and they still do not work. Is it possible to revert to the previous firmware? How? Thank you.
Hi, Yes, I rebuilt the library and that fixed it. But when I try to access the library from the apps, it gives an error and the app closes. I can access it from the drive's screen, but not from the apps. Thanks
I learned a lot about the Eversolo devices and the system in this testing, thanks for that. I also learned, that there are some library options, for example the pictures for the artists. Connected to this, I have a suggestion and a qustion. The suggestion, please bring all configurations to one point, the central settings menu. The question, how to get the artist name, that the system uses? I have the following artist and tried it with this filename, but it does not work > Electric Light Orchestra / Olivia Newton-John-artist.jpg
MusicBrainz used the "/". Thanks for the advice, I got it by my self and replaced the "/" with a "," and it woks
