Feature request: Sort Music library by Album Artist and fixing artist artwork lookup errors?

I've just finally sorted out all of my music tagging and embedding album artwork for all 65,000+ of my music files - something of a major endeavour but it's now done..!

    Summary:
    * Please add option to sort imported files in 'Music' by 'Album Artist' as well as by 'Artist' - this would immediately solve a major tagging headache.

    * Please give us the option to mass-import artist images - I have all of the corresponding images for my entire collection and the ability to tell the A6 to use that data would save a huge amount of time (and errors from wherever it currently sources the metadata which seems to have poor matching).

Finally got around to importing the files from USB external HDD to the A6's library but I have two issues (both of which are kind of related). I'd really value the option to sort by 'Album Artist' in the Music library - this is really important when working with compilation albums, soundtracks, scores and classical albums for example.

Taking the following - I have a series of albums from the 'Euphoria' era eg. Chilled Euphoria, Deeper Euphoria, Extreme Euphoria etc. I have the Album Artist set as 'Chilled Euphoria' for example and each track is labelled with the Artist, Title, Album etc. In MusicBee, I can sort all of the Euphoria albums to appear together and then drill down into them from there (which is how I'd have organised my CD collection back in the day). Without being able to sort by the Album Artist tag this doesn't work very well on the Eversolo. Please can we have the option to sort by Album Artist as well as Artist?

Following on from that, the artists that have imported properly are not pulling through the correct artist artwork for a very large proportion. I don't know what metadata source Eversolo references - can it be altered/selected manually? Where is the artist artwork data saved on the Eversolo? Can it be amended directly?

As a user of MusicBee I already have all of the artist images curated and saved with the artist name matching the Album Artist - MusicBee does this automatically or if you manually paste an artist image into it. It would be fantastic to be able to copy/paste this into an equivalent folder on the Eversolo. On the PC it's located in AppData\Local\MusicBee\InternalCache\ArtistThumbs\<Album Artist.xxx>.

That would solve all the errors with artist images without needing to lookup on line, not to mention that it's a lengthy process to fix on the A6, having to manually go into each artist at a time, then edit artist, edit image, search for the image save location where the artwork is and then scrolling to find the image which could be pages and pages down the list.

Hopefully I've explained what I'm trying to achieve clearly but happy to expand/clarify if not...!

(Also off-topic a bit but I see references to Room Correction for the A6 - is this only on the Gen2?)

Room correction is available for the Gen1 A6 with the latest beta firmware.

Composer images also needs a lot of work. I don't know where Eversolo source their images, but Composer is particularly badly served. It's very rare that the correct image is ever used, and the images change every time you re-index the library.

I don't understand why all media players don't support Album Artist sorting - it solves so many issues, eg. where an artist collaborates with others or has guest appearances, compilations etc. I'd really like to see this sorting option added to the DMP-A6.

I also bought a Wiim Ultra back when they had a price drop many months ago. I haven't gotten around to opening it yet but I might see whether that offers the flexibility I'm looking for. If it does, I suspect that using that for streaming and running it through my Topping D90SE will produce a sonic performance that's at least as good as the A6ME for a quarter of the price. I love the look and interface of the Eversolo but if the functionality ultimately doesn't work for me I'll sell it.

OK, please can someone help me out a bit here..

On many artists, the A6 is completely ignoring the tag and choosing its own name for an artist... presumably from the (crap) online metadata source it's using. Example: "Cattle & Cane" - a nice easy-going pop duo - gets imported as "Cattle Decapitation", along with (obviously) the wrong artwork. WTaF?

Why isn't the A6 just doing what I've told it to and listing the artist using the 'Artist' tag? Or even better, the 'Album Artist' tag per my previous posts... I shouldn't be having to correct the library, it should simply be importing what I have already meticulously tagged. And this isn't even the complicated stuff like compilations, soundtracks etc - I've held off importing those for now as I already know they won't display properly.

I thought the tagging correction process was a slog - the A6 screwing up importing my library the way I've asked it to is making it more frustrating than any of the tagging correction. I'm on the verge of abandoning it completely, this is starting to grate! Surely I can't be the only one finding this? Please tell me there's a better way before I list the A6 for sale..!

Is this the setting you selected in the music library? This only uses local data.

I'll check when I get home this evening... If I can sort the crap tagging issue that'll be half the battle won. If Eversolo can include the option to sort by Album Artist that'd solve the other headache.

I had a play with the Wiim the other night - so much easier to set up than the Eversolo! The app is great..BUT it also doesn't facilitate sorting by Album Artist either so it wouldn't solve the issue. For the money it's a surprisingly good bit of kit, however given both devices have the same sorting quirk/issue, I'll stick with the Eversolo for now.

I don't appear to have that menu option anywhere I can find. Where is it?

Thanks, I was still under 'Music Library > Artist' which is why it wasn't there. Gonna run a rebuild overnight and see what it looks like in the morning. Thanks for your help, I wouldn't have found that option without it.

Thanks, fingers crosssed. What would be perfect would be to find a new firmware update as well with the option of 'Sort by Album Artist A-Z' etc listed here: :D

Update... thanks to zxs the library rebuild was much faster and the A6 has accurately listed all of the artists - even though many of them still need artist artwork attaching/updating. This should hopefully be a one-time task though, laborious as it is.

I saw a new firmware arrived tonight - alas no 'Album Artist' search (it was wishful thinking, I know). I'm still not sure how to solve the issue of album series/compilations etc per my first post. How do others sort this? I know I'm likely not alone in having this issue.

I set up the Wiim Ultra the other night to see how it handled Album Artist tags and unfortunately it's the same.

Unless the devs are able to add 'Sort by Album Artist A-Z' and 'Sort by Album Artist Z-A' as an option, I don't think I'm going to be able to get the A6 to show me my music collection the way that makes most sense to me.

Could one of the devs weigh in on this perhaps? Is there a reason why this couldn't be added as a tag that can be sorted by?

A solution has presented itself... With the end of support for Windows 10 rolling over the horizon toward us, I've decided to replace my old PC. Part of the reason for buying the Eversolo was to enable me to be able to listen to music in absolute silence - although the PC was designed to be as quiet as possible, there is still some inevitable fan noise albeit at a very low level.

I've elected to move away from a big 'old school' gaming PC to a mini PC - a new Minisforum AI X1 Pro with a Ryzen CPU, 10Tb of SSD storage, 96Gb of RAM and Win11 Pro has arrived and is being set up with all the software I need etc. What's struck me is how it's absolutely inaudible, even with some loading on the CPU and that's helped me to make another decision - which is that I'm going to abandon the Eversolo idea. Both it and the Wiim will be up for sale soon and I'll revert to using MusicBee via the PC which provides exactly what I want when it comes to management of my music collection. There's nothing the Eversolo can do that the PC won't so it seems a bit of a no-brainer to recoup as much money from the streaming devices as possible.

It's a shame that the Eversolo can't be customised with what I feel is a basic method of sorting but the fact it has (in my opinion) this fairly fundamental flaw makes it an easier decision to get rid of it.

Nice bit of kit...but it just doesn't do what I want it to do.

I just chime in to say that a Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB RAM does exactly the same things. It is just a little bit cheaper, though.

Man, do you have to be in every thread in every conversation on this forum? It's high time you packed up and got the fuck out.

I believe you should be a little, just a little more fair to others.
I just share my opinions. I never said YOU SHOULD DO THAT. I just said there is an affordable solution, free, and cheap, comparable to the one you chose to adopt.
    It's fair, uh?
If, OTOH, you're frustrated, there are a lot of more convenient places for you to rant: first that comes to mind is your psychiatrist bed.

[/QUOTE] Huge respect for organizing 65,000+ files — that’s no small feat! For smoother transitions and playlist management across platforms or devices like the A6, Tracklistpro could really help streamline your setup, especially when metadata doesn’t sync right.

Go away with your badly-disguised ad.

Whatever you're pitching doesn't have any relevance at all regarding my endeavours on local file tagging or the sorting options of the DMP-A6.
