    Hi All,
I bought the Play back in July and the cd player is now, February, on the fritz. It began having difficulty about 3 weeks ago reading nearly new discs that it had previously read just fine. And then this past week the player started making audible mechanical sounds...clicking, whirring, more clicking, etc. - as if it was straining to read the cd but just could not. I stopped using it and will be shipping it to Forte Distribution for repair.

Anyone have issues with the cd player? I'm questioning in general the reliability of Eversolo gear...thanks.

    Daniel

I would have just tried cleaning the lenses, first.

Thanks for the feedback. Is it surprising to you that would need to be done with a 7-month old cd player with light to moderate use? I ask because last time I had a system cd player, I didn't need have this kind of issue over 10 years of use. Maybe some player lenses are more prone to dust? Thanks in advance

TTYTT, it depends on how you use it, how clean your CDs are, and how clean the environment is. Fact that today's players are not exactly the same as those of 20, or 30 years ago certainly makes a difference... Cleaning the lenses is neither a difficult, nor a time consuming task; that's why I suggested it, if not else, to avoid waiting all the time that sending a unit in for repair may take, if not strictly necessary...

Awesome, thanks for the prompt feedback. They sent me a shipping label and I haven't shipped it yet, so I could still do this. I see a bunch of these cleaning discs on Amazon, all with pretty good ratings...can you recommend a reputable brand? Or maybe I could pick one up locally at Best Buy or something. I'd appreciate it...thanks!

    Pick whatever you want.
On a side note, I've always cleaned my lenses with computer-screen detergent, and a cotton-bud. Gently, not to be aggressive on the laser suspension (don't worry, it's not so fragile, but you got the idea).
This of course is valid if the lenses are accessible on the tray; if they remain inside the drive, then yes, you need a cleansing disc. Just don't spend more that 10 bucks on it, as it isn't really worth it.
