Embedded Artwork Is Not Respected when uploaded

Hi Guys
I am testing the A6 for possible purchase using my friends box.
I have found uploaded .flac or Apple lossless files to the internal NVME disk containing embedded artwork are not respected and do not show on the front screen or controller app when played. Why not?

I can play these files on other apps/media players, such as WMP 12, VLC or Mediamonkey and they show different embedded artwork on media files even within the same folder.

FYI you cannot embed images with .WAV files unless you have the embedded image in the SAME folder as the music file - bizarre!
Hence if you move the .WAV files without the .jpg file your embedded pics will not show. So only use .Flac, Apple lossless or MP3 if you want to embed album art.

I know the embedded artwork is there as I have checked also with MP3TAG.
It should not be necessary to upload separate .jpg artwork with the media files to the Eversolo and if you have to,how can separate files have separate artwork if you don't respect embedded artwork.

Please note when I connect my NAS to the Eversolo via SMB the media files see the embedded artwork perfectly.

 

Looks like the embedded images are not supported, aka: only folder / cover .jpg / .png files in the same folder as the .flac / ,alac
This needs to be addressed by Eversolo if it indeed is so.

.wav files are not containers, so they don't allow for embedded album art or any metadata. If you have such .wav be aware you have non-standard ones. WAV files definitely work ONLY with an image at the same level, as I said before.

Moreover:
FLAC files use the Vorbis Comment to store metadata, while ALAC is usually inside an mp4 container, using its metadata tags accordingly; mp3 use id3v2.x tag format.
Although you can mix them as you like, it's not recommended, as players may (and should, for that matter) be strict to the standard tag system of the file format in question.

 

All my artwork is embedded in flac files and all are visible. There are no .jpg files on my NVME SSD.

 

I am sorry, but @Dave123 is not of the same opinion, from what I read... so are you too suggesting he might have his library not properly tagged?

 

I wouldn’t dare to suggest that but it’s never been an issue for me. I don’t know if it would make a difference but I have my NVME in an external USB enclosure and have copied my files to it from my Macbook, copying over the network wouldn’t work for me so it is my “workaround”.

 

I just went through this. You need to rip the CD with a cover.jpg file and preserve the folder structure so there is only one cover.jpg per CD.

 

I didn't say external NVME I said the internal SSD (in the A6 box) that you use the Eversolo software to upload and parse your files to.

 

I know I tried that, and I said that I use an external enclosure because copying to an NVME over the network didn’t work for me!

 

I know about separate cover.jpg or folder.jpg files.
dbpowerap creates a separate artwork .jpg when it rips.
WMP12 uses them stupidly for .wav files to have pics.

But there are flaws in having separate jpg artwork because you must move the cover art with the media file and maintain one .jpg per folder. There's immense drawbacks to this approach.

Using the embed artwork approach it moves with the file regardless!

...But if that is the case then you cannot upload mixed files with different embedded images at the same time to the Eversolo internal SSD.

In other words if I upload Roy Orbison and Elvis media files at the same time one of them will have the wrong picture, no?
Perhaps someone may want to do this for a CD compilation say.

 

My response to you was to your suggestion that the Eversolo does not support embedded artwork, it does. My “workaround” was how I load files. You could also try attaching a USB storage device and transferring files from it to the internal NVME, that works too.

Now I'm confused, what do you mean by transferring from a USB storage device?
Are you transferring files to the internal SSD without going through the transfer process (e.g. where it adds/updates the album/artist icons database at the same time and parses each file).
In other words some backdoor transfer.

 

Yes, my “workaround” but not backdoor, it’s in the manual. Connect an USB3.0 hdd with the files you want to transfer to the USB3.0 OTG connector on the back of the A6 and use the copy and paste from the display. I copied my first files this way but found it wasn’t worth it for just adding a few files at a time because, by default it does a full library scan every time you add any number of files. Now I remove the attached external NVME USB enclosure and add files to it from my Macbook, reattach to A-6 and do a library scan. Beware also if you are adding a large amount of files to switch OFF the autoscan because it seems to conflict with the transfer and “crashes” the upload.

So this approach you are bypassing the parsing upload software method, correct?
In other words you can copy and paste a file with apostrophe in filename say? Against the parsing rules.

 

I can’t answer that, I’m not particularly technical! It’s just like copying files from an external USB storage device to your computer. Comma’s and apostrophe's I guess so.

 

Yeah, I've tested copying files directly to the SSD but it still doesn't see embedded images. Something is still wrong...

Support sent us instructions for adding .jpgs to each album upload.

We tried the process of adding cover.jpg and folder.jpg to the upload media file list and all that happened was that every album uploaded overwrote the images from the previous album and in addition appeared to use the image for the playlist image.

Something is really screwed in the upload process or support haven't actually tested

Clearing the cache, scan or updates haven't correct the database.

Now I have serious doubts as to the reliability of this software and doubts whether I want to use this box.

I think the software was rushed out.

 

Have you tried selecting a specific folder for you r newly updated files (as it should be...)?
