Is the PEQ and room correction done by a dedicated DSP chip or just the onboard computer ?

I believe it is via the onboard computer. The features have been gradually added via firmware updates for the Eversolo streamers. The A8 model had a separate DSP chip in its DAC section though.

No dedicated DSP. I've tried both built-in EQ and REW with dedicated mic. In my fairly large livingroom (in theory, should be terrible), neither improved the sound! Mine is a 3-way active system with Sublime analog crossover and its gain adjustments are the ONLY meddling in the signal chain.

I'm talking about the T8 hardware not software.
I think Jjb067 is correct above however and the A8 and A10 both had DSP chips.
I'll stick to making my adjustments (below 400hz) in the Minidsp Flex that the T8 feeds...

The DSP chips you mention for the A8, A10 not sure about, were supplemented by firmware updates to provide the software EQ method as well, so they confusingly have both. I think this happened after the initial release of the A8 when people pointed out that they could not do DSP on anything other than the analog outputs, as it was supplied in the DAC section. The software based EQ update fixed that issue. All the Eversolo streamers including the T8 now have this common software EQ package, obviously tailored for the outputs they possess.
