A search using Google AI tell me no it doesn't work its only for the internal player. it's this true you can't use the EQ function for TV sound?
Any news on this? It would be nice, if someone with the Play in hand could comment on this. I saw a video, where a popup is displayed before first use of the EQ and there it mentions also only the „internal player“. On the other hand, you can specify an EQ config to the „speaker output“. Greetings & thx in advance!
Right, thats the popup I saw So can you confirm, if thats really the case? No EQ when using HDMI (e)ARC or other external sources?
The EQ is possible on the speaker, coaxial and USB outputs as you can see in the photo. I can't tell you more, I don't use HDMI.
Additional information, I tried with Coax in and Line in and the EQ works. Why wouldn't HDMI and optical work?
Thanks for testing! I‘d expect it to work, but the warning popup is a bit confusing by refering to the „internal player“. I could imagine, thats what the OP confused, too.
I don't have a Play but an A6. It is true that you can have different EQ configs for the various analog and digital outputs. However they can only be applied or are operational when the internal player is used as the input source. So on the A6, if I say choose optical input, there is no EQ button available when in that mode. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same on the Play.
