If you are foolish enough to update using files from McBluna's website then you risk trashing your box. These files are internal betas, and the 1295 version is not stable. @McBluna should know better by now - he's been told many times, but never listens - do not trust any files unless they are posted by either me or a member of the Zidoo team.
Ouch. Is there a way to downgrade to 4.3.40 from 4.3.42? I'm on AM928 so I haven't bricked anything, but when I upload the .40 it just doesn't do anything. update: I figured I need to backup the Poster Wall, uninstall the HT (reverting back to factory app) and install the desired version, restore the backup at the end. All is fixed
Thanks for the warning. I've never updated from his website but never knew not to neither. Lots of N sounds in that one.
This is shocking news . I was sure that i can download firmware from this site for update and this is a reliable site
The description said that McBluna just happened to find the file on the Zidoo web site and that it is an unreleased version. If you join the dots together, that kind of implies that Zidoo put it up there, but decided not to announce it because they knew it was not ready for public circulation. Since you can't restore factory firmware on some models, such as Z9X 8K, it is super important not to upgrade willy nilly and get your box messed up.
As Mark Swift warned http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/do-not-upgrade-ht-using-files-from-mcblunas-website.100318/
@McBluna 's website has always been a useful repository, but he's always had a habit of trawling the Zidoo servers and posting any old crap he finds there, most of which is internal and always has the potential to brick your box or at the very least provide you with an almighty inconvenience and a headache. That's why they're internal - generally stuff is sent to muggins here to test first, as is the case with these HT update files. Unlike McBluna, I spent yesterday afternoon testing every file on every box - or at least one box from every range, the results of which are the reason I didn't release them. The only big problem is the 1295 file (install that and you'll spend the rest of the day fixing it if you don't know what you're doing). The rest are stable, but they don't bring anything new to the table above v4.3.40 so I saw no point releasing those and not the 1295 file. Ok, the 1296 file would have been welcomed, but I decided against it just in case. I've seen this a million times with stuff McBluna's released and honestly it's like watching lemmings - why people want to install anything from anywhere with a number bigger that the one they have regardless of the risk is beyond me. We started using other distribution methods for critical stuff so he can't get his hands on it, but I guess they forgot this time...
Frankly speaking McBluna website has been a confortable, reliable and easy repository specially when OTA wasn’t available so fast in many areas. IMO this assessment seems to be extremely unfair. Anyway if Zidoo decision, we’ll follow as estate policy and dislike.
So what about 1296 - on X20? Now I have to look for the new movies on my Zidoo Z 3000pro to write NFO to HDD and then read on X20.
