Hi. I have been doing a bit of research on this 48khz eARC TV output limitation. Below is a screenshot of a reply from Sony support regarding this. Seems to be an industry standard where TV manufacturers are limiting this to 16bit 48khz. There are other solutions out there that can bypass this and provide full audio output. I found 3 devices so far. EZCOO 4K 120Hz HDMI 2.1 eARC Audio Extractor Switch 2x2 HDFury Arcana or HDFury Arcana 2 They seem to have a sale on their website for the Arcana. Blustream SM11EARC-8K Advanced Signal Manager HDMI 2.1 HDCP2.3 Not sure if anyone has any experience with these devices?
Richard are you trying to decode HDMI out from TV to A8 for higher audio rates(24/96) or from another device? As far as I understand, the ARC/earc output from TV is always at 16/48 so no higher rate can be extracted.
I don't have a problem with ARC Sony TV output to A8 sound at 16/48. I use an Nvidia Shield Pro which is picture and sound by HDMI to Sony 4k HDMI input. No sync problems. I run a dedicated stereo system no sound bar or surround formats. But I have an Oppo 205 bluray player which can output up to 24/192 from its HDMI output. In this case I run a device called the Kanex Pro de-embedder which cost about $40 US. It only works with normal HDMI connections not ARC/Earc. It extracts audio stereo or 5.1 only. This is connected to A8 with digital coax cable. This works fine. Can have sync issues but corrected within Oppo. This device also works for SACD's. I'm new to using ARC so still working it out.
Hi rmcadam I have a Sony 800m2 UHD player. I have quite a few Pure-audio Blu-ray and then obviously also 4k Bluray movies. I have a 2 channel system. Initally I thought I could just connect blu-ray player to my TV and get full audio through earc, but it's being downsampled. I wish Eversolo could give us the option to cycle between ARC/eARC and normal HDMi audio only input. That would have solved these issues. When I watch TV or netflix, I normally use the BT connection to the eversolo, because it's not like streaming apps use any high end audio streaming. I hardly ever use the eversolo when just watching streaming services. The reason why I haven't used the optical/coax directly from my Bluray player it doesn't pass through the audio resolution, you have to choose between 48, 96 or 192 in the player setup. Didn't want to struggle with that. Does the Kanex device you use pass through the audio? It is definitely a cheaper option.
Hi Richard Yes when I first became interested in the A8 I asked about the HDMI Arc input and the reply(further back in this thread) was no it would work only used in Arc/Earc circuit using a TV. Anyway further investigation the A8 does not like digital audio signal on the coax inputs and ARC only PCM. The Kanex Pro certainly works from my Oppo 205 HDMI audio only output through digital coax to A8 coax input. It definitely outputs audio up to 192khz although most Bluray stereo is 96khz I have. In comparing ARC audio from Oppo to HDMI audio out through Kanex to A8. I prefer the Kanex sound wise. I see the Kanex is around $70 US now. There are cheaper listings on E-bay. I originally bought the Kanex as I had a Benchmark DACII in order to get better sound from bluray's. Certainly for everyday TV watching ARC is fine. Robert
Nutul might be on the right track. When Netflix loads they send a LOUD noise. It is louder than the normal broadcast. ID if Mechanical or broadcasted. Turn down volume and move around.
I don't know if this issue was ever solved. Could it be that Netflix is outputting Dolby Digital or Atmos audio which is not decoded by eversolo. Ensure that your TV does not bitstream the audio and that your specific ARC settings are set to PCM.
FWIW, on a two channel device, you always have to set audio output to stereo pcm, I’ve had the problem of noise from some smart TV apps and not others via toslink optical. The apps will send multichannel audio if it’s in the original soundtrack. I came here looking for answers about the DMP-A6 implementation of ARC. Looking through this thread I don’t see any reason to believe DMP-A6 will be HDMI CEC compliant.
The fact that the A6 is stereo implies audio (incoming to it) through (e)ARC be in STEREO, and not in multichannel topology (although local dowmixing could always be possible, in disfavor of processor load...). STEREO PCM (better if at 44.1 or 48 kHz) is your format of choice. All TVs should support these. CEC is a different thing, and as far as I know, is not supported on the A6 (could be wrong, though as of latest updates).
Yes, exactly, except I should have used the word requires. Anyway, this line of enquiry has got me looking at the DMP-A8, as the only place to go after the DMP-A6 at the kind of money I am willing to pay.
I am starting to lose you here... what do you actually mean with that: "as the only place to go after the DMP-A6"...?
I meant, if I were to look for an upgrade, the DMP_A6 Gen 2 is going to be a waste of money, because Idon't believe there will be any appreciable difference with the general 1, I'm not going to spend DMP-10 money, so that leaves the DMP-A8 which I think is better than the DMP-A6 gen 2, and which can be bought 2nd hand for about 300€ more than a DMP-A6 gen 2 new.
A very good move, in my personal opinion , Also what I try to convey to folks with listening to a unit any audio unit, if possible, try to evaluate in your own system in short summary, I owned and used a HIFI Rose, I ordered a Eversolo A8, I would not part with the HIFI Rose until I had spent an acceptable amount of time with the Eversolo, after a few weeks, I decided to sell the HIFI Rose and already had a specific person interested in this unit, my findings were I did prefer the HIFI Rose to a slight degree, but extremely very minuscule speaking for myself in my own system. The Eversolo A8 in my personal opinion, was it minimum at least 90% an overall performance sonically speaking. I reached the conclusion. It was a much more sensible decision to keep the Eversolo A8, absolutely and personally speaking, I still believe in my personal opinion the Eversolo A8, is definitely the sweet spot in my own opinion , throughout their lineup, Their other offerings are also very nice units without question, just personally speaking I believe the A8, has a wealth of offerings for the overall asking, again this is just my opinion you may not agree. Totally understandable , have a nice week enjoy the music
