DMP-A8: Feature Requests

The only A8 network adapter which does not go into sleep mode is the LAN. WiFi is not connected to the standby power presumably so it is unable to listen to network traffic.
This is of course unfortunate but solvable by using a WiFi repeater near the A8 and its LAN interface connected to A8 LAN port.

 

Hi , I have been almost continuously using the DMP A8 for a little over 2 years along with some other streaming devices , I perhaps validate your point with a certain degree , I believe I have been an actual view of the VU meters themselves perhaps a few times only, as I believe you mentioned them somewhere and you’re above post purely from a personal perspective, I would indeed like to see The output, selectors have the flexible in source output ability that it absolutely did have at one time as when the unit was new, personally, speaking only within my personal situation as you with yours this would be most beneficial and somewhat helpful if the unit had retained its originality in this particular area again as it once was, this would also be a reinstatement of what once was not an upgrade, although I do retain your point of view, I believe we could be opening a new can of worms purely within my personal opinion , simple solutions seldom care. it takes a very unusual mind to undertake analysis of the obvious,

@Kim, has the technical team said anything about whether this is technically possible? Rest assured, the user experience with Eversolo will take a huge leap forward.

 

Agree, but it's still pending on the evaluation.

 

I’ve asked for this in another thread, but I’d love to see SiriusXM added so I don’t have to side load it. I know they are not easy to work with, but sure would be cool.

 

Hi, I've just joined this forum having bought an A-8 during the week. Now I discover a new upgraded model is about to be launched this autumn. Not sure how I feel about that, maybe ask the retailer if I can trade up? Maybe just be happy with my purchase as it's my first serious foray into audiophile streaming having previously used my i-phone and the car's car play app. I thought it time to take the plunge!

 

Since as you say it is your first step into this world, I'd suggest you try and use your device for a good while; you will definitely find a difference in quality.
Then, shall you decide to go down the rabbit hole, try to identify what is that you are missing, or would like to improve, and look into objective reviews of devices to chose one that can both help you, and does not cost you a kidney...

Thanks so much for taking time to reply. Since yesterday I contacted the retailer and have arranged to swap out the A-8 for T-10. My system comprises a Marantz Model 10 Amp & SACD 10. Why I bought the A-8, who knows not even me? In all the confusion of reviews and going back and forth I somehow convinced myself that was the correct choice until I had a moment of clarity and realised I already have an excellent DAC and have no need for another. I'm returning the A-8 today. It's been a bit more expensive project than I had first envisioned. Not only the Eversolo unit but a new shelf for my Atacama Apollo rack and investment in a 4TB SSD and iPad to serve as the system controller- my old boomer eyes can't cope with relying purely on my I-phone..

Oh, since you already have a good DAC it makes more sense to get a pure transport, instead of paying for a player with one you aren't going to use anyway.
