Dear all, I'm new to the forum after having acquired a DMP-A6 Master Edition for a quite sharp price. I've updated and configured the unit, seems to operate as expected. I have a fairly large and balanced hi-fi installation and would like to update three things (and limit the brands involved): USB cable & power cable (looking at Shunyata Research for both), and feet. I prefer to have feet from Herbie's Audio Lab, but the real question I have before unscrewing everything... Who knows how the feet are mounted on the chassis? For those interested, I'm looking at Baby Booties or Fat Dots, with adhesive, to properly isolate. But then I have to be able to remove the feet
Have a look at the instruction video for swapping the LPS. Shows all box details including removing the cover. Do not remember how these were mounted.
Thanks! Now I have something else to look into: that LPS It doesn't seem to show how feet are attached as these are below the motherboard.
A screw broke off from one of my feet on the a6; I don’t have the means to measure but it seems like a M4 (0,7) hole. Does anyone know? So can buy replacement isolation feet that are adjustable in height. Thx
Power cable , usb cable and feet will not make the slightest difference except to your bank account. Just make sure you are using cables fit for purpose USB.org list certified cables. Keith
This is true. But makes sense if you look at the cables and feet at least for the 15/20% of your listening experience time...
I just don’t know a, where people read this stuff and b, why they believe it. REW and a microphone, costs ( almost) nothing and could lead to real improvements in SQ. Keith
First you generate demand and then you satisfy it. You don´t need it, but you want it. That´s the way our economy works.
That would imply that the chaff performs worse than the wheat. But that´s most likely not the case. Only the price tag is (much) higher.
I just meant that even a little technical knowledge allows you to instantly dismiss the BS and concentrate on tangible improvements. Keith
You hit the spot here... sounds harsh and diminishing, but IMO all these believers have no clue what audio is about, and drink whatever is poured into their glass... EDIT It all begun with tape hiss and turntables hum... but back then at least it had a faint meaning...
@Keith & Nutul I know where you guys are coming from and i also rather stick to the facts and not believes, but if somebody want´s to spend 1k for a 1m USB-Cable so be it. It´s not my task to missionary the world what the correct approach to audio is. An audio components value is what you are willing to pay for it. I am not so presumptous to define what "audio is all about", i just enjoy the music and don´t want to convert people to my believes.
The issue is that just propagates the great hi-fi lie, on and on. If only people implemented any controls level matched unsighted into their comparisons they would quickly realise the truth. Keith
How is it your business whether it’s his business? Is it really such a strange concept that some people prefer for facts to prevail over assumptions or even downright lies?
You mean missionize? Who's doing that, then? It’s a sad state of upside down affairs when the people trying to inform with facts are accused of proselytizing. How about all the true believers with their unproven faith based claims leave everybody else alone?
