DMP-A6 not enabled in ROON Rock

    Hello all,

I've owned my DMP-A6 for a year and have been very happy with it.

In that time I have used it as a stand-alone device, and have graduated to utilising ROON wirelessly and wired using an old Optiplex Windows 10 machine.

I now have invested in a NUC with ROON Rock but I am having trouble detecting the DMP-A6. I've read, re-read and re-read again the Eversolo user manual and followed the instructions for connecting via USB-C Input source on the DMP-A6 to the NUC and can 'see' the A6 in ROON but I cannot enable it.

Has anybody had a similar ocurrence and what settings on the DMP-A6 I could be missing?

I have even tried using the USB-A OTG port with the source set to Internal Player but with no success as above.

    Thank you.

Don't Roon users just connect over LAN from their nucleus to the A6 ?

You don’t need USB connection between Roon ROCK (NUC) and A6. Same network for both devices is all you need

    Thanks both,

What I should have also stated is that I have acquired an iFi nano iUSB 3.0 Regenerator to see if there was any improvement in the sound quality via USB.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that I won't be able to do that then unless I connect an external DAC as well?

Yep if you have an external DAC, and feed it via USB from your A6, you could see if that regenerator helps. However if your external DAC has a good clock, it will take control of the asynchronous data transfer from the A6 anyway.

    Thanks all.

It seems that the problem is on the ROON side.

There's a BIN file that needs to be downloaded and installed in the reinstall folder on the ROCK. It apparently adds USB-C audio functionality to ROCK which will enable a working connection to the DMP-A6 USB-C connection.

Will let you know if it works and a more detailed description will follow later.

The A6 is a Roon Ready device, you don't need to add USB audio functionality to ROCK, it will give no advantage. That's also the reason that this bin is not included in the standard ROCK image. Just disconnect the USB and discover the A6 via network

Hi all, just a note to say thank you for your input.

Managed to connect everything up as follows:

    • RJ45 from my TP Link 2100 into my NUC.
    • USB-A out from NUC to t USB-B into the IFi regenerator.
    • USB-A output from regenerator to USB-C Input on the DMP-A6.
    • Set Source as USB-C in at the DMP-A6.
And here's the kicker. I had to go into ROON Setup / Audio and set up a new endpoint which I named EverSolo DMP-A6-USB, then hit Enable.

    Voila! All working.

Just now testing to see if there's any advantage in sound quality, midrange detail and soundstage depth etc.

    Best regards.
