I believe the Library Update function could benefit from optimization.
It operates in the background and does not disable database access in the foreground.
Therefore I think it can be optimized by locking the database with StartTransaction/Commit while it is updating the database. This should make the progress 10-50 times faster.

Since it does not need to load any files already present in the database, scanning for metadata should not be the bottleneck.

Not it, but it sure would be nice if there was a full list of all the requests. How many of each as a bonus. Here are a few I have.
    • Why is Spectrum only available with the internal player? Seems odd and would like to see it for the other inputs.
    • The digital clock screen saver does not look good. Have the time fill the full screen.
    • Why does my display turn fully off after being on the screen saver for a while? Fix this.
    • Add the ability to edit meta data of CD rips.
    • Even at 1% the screen in too bright for night listening.
    • Get Apple Music dialed in. I love I can get full hires from AM, but get it worked out a little cleaner.
    • Add the ability to copy a PEQ config. It would be nice in creating an alt version that is just slightly different.
    • Gain/EQ settings based on INPUT. Why only output?
Overall I love the A6, hoping improvements keep coming. Rock on!

Auto play is missing from the Apple Music app on the DMP A6. This is frustrating as anytime I want to use this feature I have to play from the Apple Music app on my phone and air play to the dmp a6. In which case I may as well not use the A6 at all. Also most of the playlists and features of the Apple Music app are unavailable so it makes playing a genre or type of music difficult without first creating a playlist. It would be nice to choose a song and allow Apple Music to create a playlist.

Is it possible to have metadata displayed from a cd player coming in through the optical input of the DMP A6? Maybe only possible via usb but it would be a nice feature instead of a blank screen showing only the input info

The A6 only sees a raw digital audio feed, it has no other info at all where it is coming from, no metadata, it can't go to some database to fill in the missing info, it has nothing to start the search with. However if you connect an optical drive via USB, it then can see the track info, the duration of each track, this it can use as a fingerprint to query external databases to get the metadata. So your request is unlikely to be met.

It doesn't need any metadata to start. It can use the Shazam API to send the first 10 seconds and get a reply with the full metadata.

    Hadn't thought of that !

Shazam is not always correct though. You’d likely end up with some random metadata from another song on a regular basis.

It is now correct 97.82% of the time with 10 seconds. Any changes could be manually made

TBH I've always found Shazam accurate to even higher percentages; and this well within the past 7 or 8 years...
I have no clue how their algorithm works so well with just 10s (or even less) of a track - even cover-versions are discerned extremely well - but it is a piece of software that I, as a 40+ years as a software engineer, would be rather pleased to study.
