DMP-A6 and 6ch HDMI out experience

I'm really looking forward to the release of a top-of-the-line player without a built-in DAC, such as the T 10, which will feature all the modern outputs, including an HDMI output with DSD 5.1 support. This is precisely why many people stick with the A6 and don't upgrade their player.

 

Happy to report that FW v1.5.75 did not break any of the DTS/AC3/FLAC tricks described in the previous posts.

Still at a loss why AC3WAV regenerated from a LaserDisc rip will be converted to 6ch and down-mixed to stereo by the DMP-A6... but when FLAC'ed it will not play as AC3 on my decoder.
It works every time with DTS.

Go figure!

 

I can say from direct experience that HDMI v1.4a alone is not the resolving issue with multichannel DSD playback from the eversolo DMP-A6. Before purchasing my Denon AVC-X3800H receiver I was using my Sony STR-DA5600ES which is HDMI v.1.4a I could not get native multichannel DSD decoding by the Sony. To place my comment in context this same Sony receiver works perfectly with multichannel DSD from all my SACD / CD players via HDMI. When I select the HDMI output on the DMP-A6 with the Sony connected I do not get a decoding handshake response and therefore the DMP-A6 assumes the Sony is incapable of accepting multichannel DSD via HDMI. I would therefore suggest that your Onkyo 5010 is sending the HDMI handshake protocol to the DMP-A6 in a format it can correctly interpret.

Now just to complicate the issue another member in another thread DMP-A6 Gen 2 Multichannel with JRiver | Zidoo forum posted that his Yamaha RX-A3030 AVR (HDMI v1.4a) was apparently reporting its HDMI handshake on the DMP-A6 display as " Format: 8ch,PCM24bit,DSD64 Max sampling rate: 192000Hz", which would suggest the DMP-A6 had apparently received a successful handshake with this AVR, but alas I wouldn't decode multichannel DSD from his DMP-A6. He has double checked the settings on both the DMP-A6 and the AVR were correct. He has no problem with multichannel DSD playback via HDMI from other sources so the AVR isn't faulty. This suggests to me that there is a deeper background issue with the DMP-A6 firmware which is yet to be resolved.

@Zidoo Support-Kim These decoding issues aren't just with the HDMI port, it's the same with the USB input. Why the eversolo design team didn't make it a software switchable option to either acknowledge the handshake or simply ignore it has me puzzled. I'm sure there are many potential eversolo DMP-A6 buyers out there who are hesitant to purchase the product if when they connect it to their existing AVR / AVC it doesn't work as expected.
