Hi there, just got my new Zidoo 8k. Seems it’s a great machine. Two questions for the moment. What’s the meaning of Dejaggi in sharpening? And is it possible to see the version of the HT 5 installed? Many thanks and greets, Gregor
Jaggies are artifacts in lines that look like a staircase - they can be caused by resolution, bit depth and sample rate. De-Jaggy attempts to smooth them out but generally they're not a problem. You'd probably only ever see them on dedicated test patterns with high frequency transitions - lines etc. HT Version: HT Settings/About
Seems I am having a 4.3 version. Where can I find the official updates to 5.xx,please? I only see this very new beta update. Many thanks and greets, Gregor
There are no "official releases" of anything. There is whatever version shipped from factory, plus a whole series of updates labelled as beta. Some have more bugs, some less. Because you can't downgrade, the best course of action is to wait for others to to update and test. If you are on a version that works for you, I would suggest not updating. As far as the release from the last half a year are concerned, the consensus seems to be that firmware 1.2.22 was the most trouble free version for majority of users. Some people report no issues with newer firmware, while others are seeing regressions. They are ***ed off because they can't go back to previous firmware version - Zidoo have intentionally made that impossible. There have been some early preview betas of HT made available as APKs that you can un-install. It's important to make a backup of your database with the older version before you install the APK. If you uninstall the preview beta APK, you will have to restore the old database because the older version of HT will not understand the updated database schema.
