Custom Categories work exactly the way I want, but is there any way to populate them automatically instead of manually? Since HT5 already creates automatic categories like 4K, Blu-ray and Dolby Vision, is there any hidden way to create automatic custom categories?
    TIA

You'll have to be a little more specific - maybe give an example of what you want to do?

There are 2 things I'd like to do:
Make categories for audio formats: TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, TrueHD Atmos, DTS:X
and also categories for movies by decade i.e 1930s, 1940s etc.
    any help appreciated!

So first create the new Category.

Then go to Sources, select the Source, press MENU, select BATCH EDITING and tick all the movies you want to put into the new Category.

Press MENU again and select ADD TO CATEGORY and select the Category you just created (or you can create a new one there).

If you have files in more than one Source that you want in the new Category, repeat the above for the other Sources.

I have been putting off doing this for my 35mm scans and they are across multiple drives. Based on the above that isn't an issue?

Nope, dead easy - you just need to be an HT Ninja :D

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there was a way to do it automatically, like the default categories do it. The DolbyVision category, for instance it just adds files into that category with no manual interaction.

    And it won't make tea!

    Go figure.

Yeah, I was thinking the ability is in the app, so I was just wondering if there was a way to access it.
