Hello, I'm setting up a new Play CD amp. Probably a dumb question, but are you not able to fast forward or rewind through tracks when playing a CD or am I missing something (i.e. how you'd hold down the |<< or >>| to skip through tracks on old school players if they weren't equipped with dedicated REW/FF buttons)? Is the physical remote necessary to do this or is it not possible at all? Thanks.
The CD Player app on the current streamers does not allow jumping forward or back by tapping at different places on the progress bar displayed on the Now Playing screen. You can move forward or back between tracks but no fast stuff within a track. This is the case on my A6 and T8, I assume the Play behaves the same.
On the screen that you get if you touch the spinning disc that represents what is playing, if you touch the progress bar, either on the Play display or the app on your phone or tablet, it will play at the point you touch. You can move it either forwards or backwards.
I guess there just are some differences with the Play. I didn't try it on my A6. I'm on the latest firmware, the one with the Christmas display screen for what's playing. Maybe that is the difference, I was on the Christmas display screen, were you on one of the others. When I get home I'll swipe to one of the other screens and see if it works there.
I tried it on the regular screen, both the app and the Play display and it works, backwards and forwards.
Just tried this again on my T8, this time checking both the newer simple and older classic icon layout, and all the display themes currently available in both modes. Always get the message " the current track does not support this operation" on the display screen when trying to click to a new position within a track progress bar, or dragging it to a new position. The track location always remains at the same position and ignores my attempts to move it. Skipping forward or back to different tracks no problem. This is using the device screen itself or via the Screen cast method. The app also does not work for this feature but no info messages are displayed in that case. So your Play is definately behaving differently in this regard. The original poster who posted the question appeared to not get this to work on his Play, would be interesting to hear from that poster on whether it now works or not.
Yeah, it seems like he did not see any way to do it and was just asking if anyone did know a way, but he has not checked in since the original post. As a new member, maybe he does not know how to set up for watching the thread, and is not seeing any of the comments.
Sorry for the late response. Yeah, I get the "current track does not support this operation" message on the Play also (firmware is also updated with the Christmas theme). No biggie, appreciate the help.
That's interesting that I can do it and you can't . Do you have the CD edition of the Play? Also can you attach a picture of the screen you are trying to do this on?
I just saw that you said you have the CD Play in your initial post. Can you post a pic of the screen you're attempting this on .
I'm actually not at home and wouldn't be able to snap a pic for you, but it's on the CD playback screen as shown in the attached pic. I can advance to the next and previous tracks, but there's no way to rewind or fast forward through the track itself. Normally you would just hold the buttons down to do this.
I just put in a CD in mine. Scrubbing (right term?) is not available. But then, why would I need to micromanage a track, really, if I'm listening to an entire CD....?
I tried to post a pic (not mine since I'm not home), but I'm getting a message that it's awaiting moderator approval. I'm assuming I don't have rights to post if there's an attachment or link in the message since I'm new. It's the normal playback screen, if you look at the 'Play' page on this site, the screen shown in the very first picture is similar. You'd see the cd/track info with a pause/play button and |< and >| buttons etc..
Fair question..but off the top of my head, in the 90s, it was somewhat common for artists/groups to place hidden or bonus songs at the end of tracks that would start after minutes of silence. It's not a huge deal, but that would be a time I might want to skip ahead.
I'm assuming you mean the Eversolo site, not this one, and you're talking about the 5.5" vibrant screen part. I'm just trying to make sure we're in the same place because I can do it. When I touch the progress bar anywhere it jumps back to where it was originally for a nanosecond, then goes back to where I touched and begins playing from there. Maybe Kim from Eversolo can weigh in here. If this is not a feature, why can I do it, and you can't. I purchased mine from Amazon, America site, in late August, returned it for replacement for reasons I don't want to get into, and got the replacement late September. I've never put it in developer mode or sideloaded anything to the box, so it's just the way it came, except for firmware upgrades, and we're on the same version, so...
Yep, I didn't want to post a link just in case it got held up for mod approval again. Whenever I try that I get the "current track does not support this operation" message that the other poster gets as well.
I should mention, I'm doing this from flac files ripped from CDs, that are on an external SSD, selecting music library, going to an album, pressing play, going to the bottom of the screen and clicking on the bar at the bottom that shows what's playing on the box, and, when that screen opens, touching on the progress bar. Are you trying while playing a CD? Maybe that's the difference.
