Nothing has changed regarding issue #4 and the situation of standard files in m4a containers (aac audio with mp4 tag) with the ITUNSMPB tag in place.
    • Replay gain value is read correctly from the tag.
    • Replay gain value is correctly displayed by the UI.
    • However replay gain is actually not applied to the output volume during playback.
The device is configured to apply album gain in the playback settings, in case that matters. Replay gain however is applied to flac as well as m4a with the ITUNSMPB tag removed. Adding the ITUNNORM tag doesn't help the situation.

First glance testing with v1.5.95 shows success! SACD *.iso files play fluent without any issue! Thanks for the quick fix! Brilliant!
Tested also *.dsf files and all is good here as well!

Does it persist after the update to v1.5.95?

It has been fixed in the version 1.5.95, looking forward to your feedback.

Situation has significantly improved about this issue. I had to let the songs play up to the fifth track to get a glitch while just playing. UI interactions like opening the play queue as well library actions can still cause glitches from time to time. Also when the screensaver starts his count down. I'm sticking with my workaround and use the new web interface and the app's screen view sparsely. For me it's ok if the player does what it's done before v1.5.75.

It's still nice to have the possibility to engage the web interface though, but maybe that feature is rather for a Gen 3.

    Now genres... (issue #15)
It would be nice to have a documentation about this, what does it mean, what does it do?

    Observations regarding my use case:
    1. Does it automatically change the assignment of genres, in a way that all *pop* goes to one genre and *rock* to another, like v1.5.90 did? No. And that's good.
    2. Does it leave my personal custom genres untouched? Not quite. And I have to come to terms with that.
It removes the sequence numbers from my genre tags. Instead of a seague

    3.1 Inst Jazz
    3.2 Pno Jazz
    3.3 Voc Jazz

    I get now

    Impressionismus Pno
    Indie
    Inst Jazz

from alphabetical sort. You can decide which sort makes more sense to you. I've already made that decision for myself by introducing those sequence numbers as a way to derive any benefit from genre categorization at all. (And by the way: GMMP – I call it an enthusiast's app to play music on Android devices – even gives the possibility to insert code to translate between metadata and UI, which even allows to have the sort and hide the numbers, apart from supporting a wider range of metadata.)
The change for good: I can edit all these "Eversolo genres". It's a remapping that doesn't affect the integrity of the metadata in the audio files which is untouched. I need to consider whether I will really do that. For me it's a list of 170 custrom genres, once I've populated them all.

I will come to terms with it now. It's save to say it does the job for most users.

    Maybe worth a mention:

While v1.5.90 (only) deleted the contents of device playlists (playlists are still there, but empty) and left favourite albums, artists tracks and composers intact, switching to v1.5.95 deleted those favourites as well. Does it state that anywhere in the update info?

I confirm issue #5 – library scan struggling to read specific custom genres (in my use case: any of them) from ID3v2.3 tags in mp3 files – fixed. I'm so glad about this.

Hi, do you mean the device playlist is empty since the v1.5.90, and it persists in v1.5.95? Could you please provide more details? Thanks.

NO - the re-mapping is wrong! many people have spent years curating their music collections and for some one else to determine what is actually sorted and displayed is just unacceptable.
My genre tags are the ones I want to use and I don't need some 'smart' software playing about with them. Please Eversolo switch off this nonsence.

    Absolutely right.

I'm trying to be sympathetic towards Eversolo – definitely not another company like Xtreamer. I'm glad they have this forum, I'm glad they are participating, I'm glad they are committed to solve issues. And last weekend's beta release showed me they are very committment. Many issues were fixed.

At first the software only offered to sort genres by population, which someone must have have come up with having a list of maybe 8 genres in mind. I was glad when alphabetical sort was added... that is now taken away again... unless I invest in adjusting the remapping the device software has done – both unneccessarily.

    Hency my assessment

The contents in the "device playlists" section got lost "somewhere along the way". It was with v1.5.90 that I noticed it. If it actually got lost with a version before v1.5.90 I didn't notice it back then. This persists with v1.5.95.

    2026-08-04-Device-Playlist-ed1.jpg

Personal favourites in the sections (album)artists, composers, albums... and I think tracks as well but can't verify it anymore... had remained intact with v1.5.90 and are now completely wiped with v1.5.95.

Shoud I consider this an issue or was it designed to work like that?

I had this with a previous update.
When I'm back (vacation) i'll test to see if my Playlist are lost again.

I'm curious, is the database somehow changing during the update. So the Playlist/backup contains invalid entries?
Especially the internal drives can change names due to the usb enumerator names. The database useing relative locations, the Playlist absolute locations .

I haven't seen the USB enumerator name of my internal NVMe SSD change a single time since I started using the device. I would have noticed... use it all the time for adding files.

    The sort in genres?

As it turns a stringent sequence of 170 genres into an impenetrable jumble... effectively: Yes.
Keep in mind you have to find a genre among 170* in total: Impressionist piano music should rather be in a segue with other Impressionist genres or with Post-romanticism and Neoclassicism than with Indie (Rock) and instrumental Jazz. Contemporary classical music (such as Impressionism) should be seagued in line with Medieval and music from the Renaissance, Barock, Classical and Romantic era. That is my approach. Other's will have their individual approach.

This software undermines my authority with wayward decisions. It is my collection, and I deliver proper metadata for a database, that the device should just bild and grant access to – but not alter. If I want a genre to appear under the label "Indie", I tag it "Indie". If I don't tag it "Indie", I don't want it to appear under the label "Indie".

After all the device should behave predictable. This (v1.5.90 and v1.5.95) is not predictable. And there is no documentation of what it acutally does.
    ___
*: no guarantee they will *all* be populated in the end, but the vast majority will.

The software handled genres correctly before v1.5.90 so why make these unexpected changes at all? I don't recall anyone asking for the change.
