Thanks, it looks like it’s working now on both channels. Good to know that the box creates DoP from DSD, though.

I found the source of the issue — it’s the Denon player.
Later today, I continued listening to SACDs, powered the player up, and found that it was only playing on one channel. I pulled out all the cables and the box from behind the rack, checked all the connections, and even gave the box a shake, but there was no change.
I then swapped the HDMI ports on the player, and the problem moved from the Z10 DAC to the Marantz AV amp DAC. The Z10 was then playing without any issues.
I don’t know how long this issue has existed; potentially it has been there for longer. I can move CEC to another HDMI port, as the Denon is quite flexible, and with films, DTS/Dolby HD formats won’t trigger the issue because the Marantz is receiving a bitstream. I still need to test this properly.
Importantly, the HDMI port I’m currently using for I2S is working perfectly. A friend of mine is good at electronics and soldering, so he can take a look at it when he has some time and is able to come over. Hopefully, it can be repaired, and then both ports will be fully functional again.
I’m glad the Denon offers full functionality on every HDMI port.

If someone wants to route an Apple TV into the Z10 or another DAC without losing CEC and other video functionality, there’s a simple solution.
I bought a second unit of the same HDMI-to-I²S converter I previously configured with the Denon and connected it to the Apple TV.
CEC is working, there’s no change in picture quality, and with the converter box set to "DOU", the audio is routed via HDMI to the Marantz AV amp, via optical to the Z10, and via coax to the R30.
So today I was finally able to retire my workaround using HDMI Zone 2.
Important, the "AMP" setting was only playing using the DACs, the "TV" setting only obviously using the Marantz AV Amp, only the "DOU" setting was providing audio output on all devices in parallel.
Previously i was not able to keep CEC workign with the AppleTV on the Marantz Cinema 30 with all tested HDMI extractor interfaces and i tested quite a few of them...
