I'm glad as a dealer of eversolo products you have published this information. Some time back I copped a lot of flak from a couple of members when I dared to suggest that not every unit off the production line from mainstream manufacturers is 100% tested before getting packed into the shipping box. It's just not economical to do so after the product is fully assembled. In reality random samples are tested off the production line so they can identify any significant problems.
Sorry, a question about the new releases....at the moment the only Eversolo that supports multichannel files through HDMI is the 6 series, will the new ones that will come out like the A8 gen2 have this support or will it remain only on the 6 series?
Based on the specifications published here and the lack of a conventional true HDMI output port I'd say there's no multichannel audio support unless it is available from the USB port or via the I2S port (once again no mention in the specs). If there was multichannel USB support you'd have to use an external USB multichannel DAC like the Topping DM7 or the miniDSP Flex HT I'm sticking with my good ol' trusty DMP-A6 until something better comes along, and then perhaps .......
I will do exactly the same thing, I will stick with my DMP-A6 Gen2 which supports multi-channel audio, I listen to a lot of stereo music and now thanks to Eversolo also in multi-channel and I assure you that it is a great experience, I really don't understand why Eversolo has decided not to support multi-channel audio in the models above the 6 series......
I’ve been hearing this a lot lately, and surprising as it may seem many people are hoping Eversolo won't forget about customers who enjoy multichannel audio. I’d rather the development process take longer so that the result is perfect. I admit I’m one of the fans waiting for this. I also bought the Eversolo A6 partly because it was multichannel, a feature other streamers didn't have.
A multichannel device with (multichannel) digital input reaching the (multichannel) output!!!! In either an bypass/pass-through mode or a decode to PCM mode with (multichannel) DSP (replaygain) optional RAW support vs optional dsp support on PCM output. GAPLESS playback. I have to shout this because the latest zidoo music player seems to lack this. i will not spend any dime on a musicplayer like the zidoo 8K series
I´m wondering, what other multichannel lovers are using to stream their multichannel files. I have two Oppos (103 and 203), which can stream nearly everything, as long as it is local, but the UI is pretty basic and the Android app only runs on very old Android systems. Then I have a Fire TV Cube gen.3, which can do a lot of stuff. But as a music player, not really ideal. And switching between Oppo and Fire TV all the time is no good solution. Since there´s so much multichannel music available - multichannel files for download or Atmos via streaming - , it´s hard to believe that there is no Eversolo device that can do it.
Most newer phones can stream Atmos right? Apple music, Tidal, Amazon music. Then cast to your Atmos system
I tried to use the Android app of Amazon Music with two new Android phones, but you cannot stream it to a Fire TV Cube. As soon as an Atmos track shows up, the phone and the Cube skip it and go to the next track, until there´s a stereo track. I can only use the Fire TV Cube without the app, if I want to listen to Atmos. Anyway, I just don´t want to use the Cube for music at all.
Interesting I always saw casting as a video enabled bluetooth variant. Crap but functional. Never thought it would be able to transport real video/audio. But does it work? Does it do real video and real audio? My tablet is atmos but on stereo speakers. and it actually works on 2 speakers within the left/right plane. why would it cast 5.1.4? Or would it even be able to cast 7.1.6 (if you find a app that plays it)? Have you tried it?
You are right. Amazon Atmos is very tricky. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. It depends on a lot of factors.. For example: When I use the Amazon music app on my Android (Google) TV which is connected to a surround receiver Atmos tracks will work but only if the TV is on Wifi internet - not with an ethernet connection. This is just one example. With Amazon music you need to try different setups/connections. It's a pain. Maybe Tidal or Apple are easier.
You will never, ever, get a device that does it all. There are also patent dues if you want to support / implement some formats, and there is such a huge variety out there (and some formats will be dead in less than a decade) that is virtually, let alone commercially viable, to always implement everything.
