on an avs dune 8k forum they are stating that the dune 8k supports firmware roll back. I thought that was not possible on this chipset? If it can be done what it the issue with Zidoo not doing it? Just curious.

 

It's pretty much possible with any SOC but Zidoo took the choice to use differential updates (ie incremental) because the security on AML SOCs isn't as robust as Realtek's (at least that's my understanding).

This protects both their own IPR and that of licenced third parties. Whether it's a wise choice is not for me to decide, but I fully understand their reasons for doing it since others have previously freely availed themselves of Zidoo code.

On earlier Realtek models there was a hidden way of doing it, but it was never publicly advertised because of different hardware versions in different batches which theoretically could cause a brick, but with AML SOCs it's a bit different.

Dune have just taken a different approach.

When will the entire player interface be translated?
How long do you have to wait?
I use Polish and only the main menu is 90% translated
I don't use PosterWall - Media Center File Managerthe entire folder menu is in English !!! No polish

This is very sad....

I have done both and still have problems.

 

Tonight for the first time my box (z30) encountered a serious freeze, for the first time I can say the real bug. It was a TV show x265 AAC 5.1 Till now I ve encountered this problem but for about 1-2 seconds max and after the image stared again in sync with the audio.

 

I had the video freeze/audio continue bug twice last night whilst watching a film. Is there any idea on what is causing this and how it can be fixed?

 

If you read the forum threads, all we have to do is to wait until next firmware release, that hopefully will be very soon.

 

@Markswift2003 today the music player was going crazy. Today when listening music a lot of times I've encountered black screen( image dissappearing from the screen) with no sound, sound popping. After happening this a lot and requiring a few box restarting one after another, the box behaved normaly.

Are the devs also aware about the problems with the music player?

The box started behaving strange after aprox 3-4 hours of playing music. I think maybe the memory or the cache is over loading. It's very strange and very annoying. Please confirm if the devs are aware. Thank you.

 

First I've heard of it and it's Sunday so I'd assume not.

 

@Markswift2003 On my Z3000 pro yesterday - black screen many times on FHD - 1920/1080. My settings output mode 3840/2160P 25 hz YUV444 12 bits SDR.
AI PQ On-high, AI SR on - mid. Playback - match framerate only, resolution 3840/2160P 23.976 Hz.
If I turn off Zidoo, and out cable for some time and push on after it play corect (same treatment for DV films).

 

Like this is the first time with black screen. But I ve report that the music has also problems with this firmware a few weeks ago. When we discovere bugs or strabge behaviours where should we report ? Thank you.

 

I have the v12 remote. Only had it for a few months and the buttons have begun requiring very hard presses. Anybody else, or did I just get a bad one?

 

Hi yes my V12 remote control is doing that the back button needs pressing very hard they are sending me a new one under warranty

 

I’ve got one V12 Remote two months ago and my first impression was that it needs a very hard press. Then I noticed it responded to a much gentler press. From that moment everytime is running fine. Obviously it’s working BT and not IR mode.

 

I've been using the same V12 since they came out and no issues at all - a light touch is all it's ever needed.

It's the same membrane, PCB and case as the V10 and I've also been using one of those for a few years with no problems.

 

I have two V12 remote devices, one came with UHD5000, the other with UHD8000. Both work well, normal presses. My only complain is the the way UHD8000 responds to both V12 remotes (most annoying for for backspace command), it takes double command for a single press, so I have to start again the commands to go to the place I was before double backspace. This problem occurs because the UHD8000 doesn't have the "Remote control response time" option in the settings like UHD5000 has.
