Wow, I guess I never noticed some TV shows were doing that. I saw Shogun and I was like no way! Look it up with MediaInfo and sure enough......

 

the old 23.97 is dying, as it should, its unnecessary and a holdover from the analogue TV days, but we are in a messy transition period where many devices are playing 24.00 as 23.97 without proper time correction, and some TVs are doing the same thing.

According to some people I know in production and distribution they are being told to provide their content in 24.00 by most streaming services now, but they may have already completed the production in 23.976, there is usually a packaging or digital distribution company that handles the actual delivery of the package to the streaming service and they can do the conversions, but not as well as the production company themselves or just getting it right at the start of production.

 

V1.1.42 of the firmware, and v2.02 of BT remote control, are available for update !

 

I sincerely think that Zidoo has put their highest hopes in this player and with that they are going to continue making a lot of improvements and polishing it.

Have you assigned that action in 'Settings>Play Settings>Function keys>Up and Down Keys'? Mine was set the default 'Switch chapter'. Now assigned to 'Audio offset' - which works!

 

Is there any way to remove all those unused apps/icons in Music Player?
And is there a way to set a default opening screen for the player?

 

Yes I have. Subtitle position works also when assigned like audio offset but not the subtitles delay in the up/down buttons.

 

How does the remote get updated? Through the same process as the streamer or is it a separate process?

 

New firmware update with over 50 improvements and fixes and yes the bdmv Disney issue works fine now no audio dropouts and new separate update for Bluetooth remote now can turn off instead of having to point it at player

OK, here's a weird one. I have a dune 8k and a zidoo 3000 8k. Both have self powered usb hard drives attached. They are duplicate model hard drives and contain the same exact files etc. on them. Connected to my win10 computer via smb the zidoo hard drive always fails to show 1>3 files. The files are there, they just don't show. If I try to copy the "missing" files from the dune hard drive over to the Zidoo, I get the message that the files are already there on the Zidoo hard drive. If I run a search on the Zidoo for the files they don't show up. Yet if I look at the Zidoo hard drive on the TV via the Zidoo menu, the files are there and play fine. I have gone to the extent of trying several different hard drives and the same thing always happens. It also happened with my previous Zidoo pro 1000 and a dune 4k
So, it does not appear to be a problem with the hard drives, having tried it with multiple drives with the same results. It would appear to be an issue with the Zidoo's.

 

I confirm for films in 24hz, the internal software is in 23.976 and the television frequency is 24.000

 

@piou44 You mean with the new 1.1.42 firmware? I checked and this is fixed. Anyone else?

 

In my initial testing it appears that it was not actually fixed. I'm still getting some frame skips in 24 FPS videos. They absolutely did fix the audio dropout issue with Disney titles though, very impressive!

I'm hoping we can get some more info on the 24 Hz situation, from either Mirror or someone on the Zidoo team. I'd like to know if they're at least aware of it and will be working on a fix.

 

Just to confirm the frame jumping at 24Hz is not fixed in v1.1.42.

The devs are aware of the problem and I've sent 23/24Hz judder patterns to them to demonstrate.

It's certainly not a SOC issue because the Dunes don't do it, so I'd expect an easy fix.
