Hi Mark, Any chance that they will provide an updated Control4 driver? The current one is missing some functions and uses old functionality which causes it to be laggy.....thanks

No idea - I've never used Control4 but isn't this something you can write yourself if you have the protocols?

I use Crestron and wrote my own modules with the IP and RS232 protocols.

 

Not until they go live on the website - I think they want a bit of mystery.

But if you take a guess what they look like you won't be far wrong

Except the 8000 - that's a bit nicer than the 3000/5000 case.

That is exactly what I was hoping for! As far as I'm aware, it's the first of these android media boxes that natively supports it. Awesome! Just wanted to confirm that that setting is available on the Z9X 8K w/ 6GB of RAM, and not just the higher end models with 8GB. I could kinda see them possibly wanting the extra 2gb of RAM to support that, but I think it should be doable with 6gb.

 

Performance takes a small hit at 4K with HT but I'd say the performance at 4K is about what it is now on current boxes. I prefer using 2K to be honest.

But it's nice to have, and as you say, it's a first for these type of boxes.

 

If your AV supports Aero 3D it will play as the Zidoo will pass through the bitstream.

I have an ATV for some streaming apps but also use my TV apps for others, notably iPlayer to get UHD HLG.

 

So at last zidoo have done what I thought they would Changed to the same as Dune and R_Video that's why there has been nothing done for existing owners. Just appalling service .

 

I've been debating on getting a 9x Pro for my upstairs, streaming content from my Z2000 downstairs. Will the new Z9X 8K be compatible with my Z2000 if I want to watch content through ethernet from the HDD in the Z2000?

Coming from a fellow JVC owner, can you see a noticeable improvement in image quality using your UHD 8000 vs the previous model? Not sure what you had before, guessing the 5000?
I'm on the fence about getting a Z3000 to replace the Z2000.

 

Yes a series of grey\black boxes!

 

I'm going to be perfectly honest and say that I haven't tried one of these boxes in the cinema yet.

It's only fairly recently that I replaced my trusty Z9X with a Z9X Pro in there. I like the small boxes - I have oodles of NAS storage and so no need for local disc drives so to date I've always had the smallest models in there despite having premium models on test elsewhere.

But, and this is quite a big but for me - I'll be putting the 8000 in there very soon and that'll take a bit of fettling in the rack and possibly some Crestron fanangling so it's not overly straightforward. But it's a great machine. Looks nice too which helps..

So can't really help with your dilemma other than to say if money wasn't a, shall we say, huge issue, I just like shiny new things too much and hell, life is short.

 

That's one of the nice things about Zidoo - range consistency.

Our Russian cousins seem to just pick whatever OEM box rocked up on Alibaba that day and although R_Zappitilution are nice boxes, you really don't want to go there.

But yeah, expect the expected with the odd embellishment

I like shiny new things too, but convincing the wife I need a new shiny thing for the theater will be tough.
I will probably wait on that upgrade.

These are very interesting premises, as a Kodi interface lover I am not if ZDMC will be maintained, also important thing for video section if profiles will be supported:
