No, of course not, all these players will play FEL DV files and in fact Zidoo were the first to figure it out, way before Dune.

What they can't, and aren't allowed to do by Dolby, is use the video information in the FEL so they use the base layer and RPU only.

 

No voice search.

Like all the other players they have a mouse mode.

Personally I think both are a PITA.

I don't even use my z9x pro, it just stand there, second place to Odroid + Coreelec.
Will see how new units evolve.
But people sure could have used somewhat of a hint not to buy a recent model if new ones are coming out.

The point is that in the .ssa subtitles I can have my own font, my own color - one that is not in Zidoo, etc...

Everything is written inside the subtitles .ass or .ssa

Well yes I have definitely heard that Zidoo has a superior player. I'm currently using Kodi on my Nvidia Shield and I'm mostly happy with the picture quality, but I sometimes get a stutter or frameskip. I'm assuming that the Zidoo doesn't have any frameskip issues right?

The reason why I want to use ZDMC is that I get to have the interface and library management of Kodi (which I'm used to), while also benefiting from the excellent Zidoo video player, is that not correct?

You might be mistaken here. Once you get used to it using the Voice search/command of Android TV and other voice assistants is quite powerful today. It came a long way already and one can throw complete fairly complicated sentences at it.

I think I read somebody using voice control with Eversolo and the Youtube APP.

 

@Markswift2003 @Nice Monkey I have a couple of questions:

1) I use a Harmony Elite remote. I have used the same same set of commands for all the Zidoo boxes I have owned. Do you know if the commands for the Z9X Pro work on the new range?
2) Will the new range have a _G (Google Apps) version? I use the _G just to install one app from the store (Footo photo frame as my screensaver).

I'm sure I'll think of more!

1. For Internal subs the {\AN8} tag does not cause the text to shift but the tag does not show in the subtitle.
For External subs the {\AN8} tag causes the subtitle to shift to the top of the screen and the tag also does not show in the subtitle.

2. Ok - never come across that. If you provide a sample video, I can test.

2) Don't know yet, but if not, it'd be easy to download the apk and install.
