As the Zidoo native player is still unusable for me but Kodi plays everything fine, I wondered if there is a way to configure Home Theater/poster wall to open files using Zidoo player. Dislike the Kodi appearance. Any help appreciated.

Not sure how familiar you are with Kodi so here is detailed installation path for Aeon MQ9. I have been using both Aeon MQ9 & Transparency (a slick fanart skin) on Zidoo Z30 Pro with no issues. Picture quality is excellent, much better than my Nvidia Shield. I actually downloaded the 4K screen images from Aeon to storage on Zidoo & can access them from Transparency so I have 4K look & feel for the interface in both skins. Easiest way to get any of the skins is to download Kodi for Android. https://kodi.tv/download/android/ and select Pre-Release Builds, v22 Alpha2 (32 bit). You can install that version in Zidoo. Install Kodi, then, in Kodi settings, select Interface & there you can choose from several skin options, including Aeon MQ9 & Transparency. I included a pic of sample screens from Transparency & Aeon MQ9 & skin selection screen in Estuary. Hope this helps.
I really like ZDMC because it has what HT is missing: the option to choose between “Viewed,” “Not Watched,” and “All.” If HT had that, it would be great.... The big problem is that ZDMC doesn't mark a video as “Played” when it's finished (when using an external player like VZidoo Player...). If anyone has a solution... For those who use Kodi, how do you set up the whitelist? Because there’s only the resolution I set in the Zidoo settings, and another question: what are your settings, because the videos stutter with Kodi on my end
For me, whitelist is only showing my TV resolution. I have set the Zidoo Z30 Pro to use "auto" on display resolution & it is selecting the resolution of my TV. It is upconverting all video to 4k to match TV. I have included some screen shots of my settings & player info with a 4k video. I have zero stuttering with this set-up.
