Hi all, I would really appreciated help with this! Thank You all in advance:

I recently got a X9X Pro. It showed no signs of life (nothing on device display) untill I used turn on + reset function. I turned it off once I was seeing 'HELLO' on the front display. It booted into the device next time I tried and I was able to see the UI.

The remote control was not working with it so I powered off -> on device.

Now device won't power by itself, I have to turn on + reset and everytime I do this I see the Zidoo logo and it stays there.

I have tried to flash using multiple FAT32 formatted USB's in 3.0 slot. I am renaming the different firmware I have tried to install.img. Everytime I try to boot to flash I see 'UP' followed by 'HELLO' and it stays on 'HELLO' with the Zidoo logo on screen. I suspect there is no power to the USB ports because some of the USB's I have tried would usually show a light but they do not plugged into the device.

Yes, if the USB stick has an activity light and that doesn't flash then I'd say you're right - no USB power. And the remote not working is suspicious too - sounds like a bootloader problem.

Have you tried the other USB ports, including USB2 to update using the emergency flash method.

Just to be clear, the flash method is:

    Emergency Flash Procedure
    =========================

    1. Copy file to empty FAT32 USB stick

    2. Rename file to "install.img"

    3. Turn off player using switch on back

    4. Plug USB stick into USB 3.0 Port (a blue one)

    5. Press and hold reset button with something pointy while applying power

    6. Wait for on screen confirmation then release reset button.

**Do not turn off during this procedure**

I'm pretty sure it works from a USB 2 slot too.

File is this one assuming you mean Z9X Pro:

Hi Mark, I appreciate the reply.
Optical and Ethernet ports have power.
I have indeed tried the USB2 ports also and tried following the outlined procedure.
I have used the linked Z9X Pro img file already.
Still issue with it stuck on Zidoo logo + HELLO.

Am I out of options aside from trying th UART approach I have seen people mention?
I wanted to try flash via PC but with the USB ports not working I don't think I can...

    Thanks!

Yeah - if the emergency flash procedure doesn't work you're a bit stuffed I'm afraid - I've unbricked Z9X boxes by UART but not Z9X Pro so don't have any of the recovery files and I'm not aware of anyone having done it on those boxes.

I assume it was a second hand purchase with no recourse?

I purchased it new from a location in France, I am in Ireland. Will probably have to try get it returned.

Oh, ok - if it's been that way since new (and you've not messed with it :) ), it's definitely faulty!

If I were you I'd get my money back and get a Z9X 8K from Futeko - I can personally vouch for their fantastic customer service.

Thanks for the tip, the only reason I chose the 4k was the 3D Blu-ray support so I'll have to think on it.
