Can custom launchers be utilized on the new 8K/AML S928X players? I currently utilize Wolf Launcher/ATV Launcher on my Z1000 Pro and would like to continue to do so.

After testing the z9x 8k for a couple of days with 1.1.60 I wanted to tell you about my experience only as a local network file player:
    1. The image quality is quite superior to what I had until now, a shield.
    2. I have noticed some frame skips or small random image jerks. So far no stops (with the settings in the forum thread: 422 12bits, dv led tv, etc.). With 1.2.01 it also happens the same, right?
    3. I have it via ethernet cable because over 5ghz wifi next to the router the 50-60gb movies did have stops. I suppose that's normal, right?
    4. I had a delay in the sound with the bar and I had to activate “passthrough compatible”
    5. Can't you go back with the rewind button on the remote? Moving forward, although the speeds below 4x could have been saved…
    6. The buttons on the remote could have been made to be a little more visible, right? I mean without having to turn on.
    7. I like the information it gives with real-time data on resolution, Hz, bitrate, etc.
    8. For those of us who only use the TV remote, it would be nice if they improved the playback bar with more direct audio options, subtitles, etc.
    9. It doesn't output LPCM 7.1 audio? only 2.0?

To be honest, I quite liked it, especially for the image quality and speed of the device. But the small jerks or random frame loss is what “bothers” me a little, they are minimal but I have noticed them. If you tell me that updating to 1.2.01 will completely solve the problem, I'll go ahead and update, but if not...

I have almost 30 days to decide whether to keep it or look at another one like the dune hd pro one 8k plus. I don't know if anyone knows if it also has playback problems or if it's more stable than the z9x 8k?

Thanks for link provided by rozel and Robert Crawford I have found that Zidoo 5000 offers less than Zidoo 3000pro :) , now I am looking for pros/cons Zidoo 3000pro Vs much more expensive Zidoo 8000 , I can't find what DAC type is used in Zidoo 3000pro .

You shouldn’t be seeing frame drops or “jerks” - make sure Match frame rate is on. There are still bugs to be ironed out but frame drops is not one of them, even on earlier firmware.

It’s only 2 channel PCM decoding due to Dolby & DTS licencing

Not naming names, but other players only do this by ignoring such licencing which Zidoo cannot do since they are a much larger company.

How come the jerks is not a bug in previous firmwares? I've read a lot of user complaints on the forum about that... could it be due to the Dolby Vision "TV Led Metadata Bypass Auto" option insted of "TV Led? My TV is a Sony from 2022. The jerks is minimal but in some scenes you can notice it when it appears.

Why only 2 channel PCM and not 7.1? Isn't a license needed for 2 channel?

    Greetings
    I just signed up here.
I hope I'm in the right section of the forum

I would like to buy a zidoo but I'm undecided on which model to get.

I don't need Nas or even listen to music.

I just need it to play most video files and the latest generation audio encodings.

I have an LG C4 TV and a somewhat old amplifier, a Harman Kardon AVR 255, which I think doesn't have Dolby or even HDR.

Which one do you recommend me to buy?
    Thank you

    Try this comparison guide
    https://www.mcbluna.net/wp/zidoo-player-specification-comparison-sheet/

Simply put if you don't need to add an internal hard drive or play high end music go for the cheapest - the Z9X 8K. If you need to add a hard drive the cheapest is the Z30 Pro. For movie playing all devices will be identical.

I forgot to mention that I have a slightly old amplifier, a Harman Kardon AVR 255, can this influence the choice of player?

I don't know if I might have problems with the latest generation audio output?
    Thank you

I found this forum as I just ordered my first Zidoo player (z9X 8k), I just became a forum member, and I want to thank you for any help in advance. I've seen a lot of positive comments about the picture quality coming out of this box, and wanted to ask what the best HDR setting would be when using a projector like the Epson LS1200, which is only HDR compatible. I only watch MKV files from my library, I have many HDR files, but most are in Dolby Vision. What's the best video setup in this case? I also have a good amount of 1080p files. Current player is the Nvidia Shield connected to the Onkyo TX-RZ50.

Create a directory called "zddaydream" in "Storage" and put you images in there.

If it already exists, replace the images with your own.

Can the delay time between images be configured?

Not as far as I know - if you want something more sophisticated you'd have to install a third party screensaver.

Yes you can add them into the
I use a screensaver app called Fotoo. It allows you to connect to photo stores such as Google photos. It's fully configurable. However you will need to install _G firmware as you need an active Google Play account to buy and log into it.

Oh, I had not considered that as an option. Thanks for the tip.

I read somewhere that the UI can be in 2K.
But I only have the option for 1080p and 4K.
