My Roon settings page lists the UHD8000 in other network devices as follows, but via AirPlay only at this stage:

Right, it's like that for me too.

I think to be classified as 'Roon Ready', it has to be tested on Roon's protocol (RAAT). So hopefully we'll get a proper (RAAT) endpoint in an upcoming firmware update

I just have the just Bluetooth (BT) antenna connected and it works great.

I know your pain with regard to the cabinet depth, typical cabinets (IKEA) are not deep enough for standard AV gear.

    |Thanks for that - I need to disconnect and make the hole through which all the cables go very much larger then I think the UHD8000 will fit back far enough - now whether the BT Antenna will sit up enough, is another matter lol!

Doesn't really matter - it can stick out backwards or lie down sideways - it's unlikely you'll ever have the aerial in the remote polarised vertically!

    Hi all,
I'm not sure where the issue lies here, but I have True Detective season 4 with almost a soap-opera effect? I've read online it was shot a certain way and maybe it looks how it's supposed to, but even my Obi-wan series looks similar?
I've only watched a couple of full-length UHD ISO movies since getting the player, but they all look good, as does another 1080p show that I was watching this week.
Initially I set the player to output 4k, 23.976 and have also tried Auto. All AI is turned off. Strangely, the info page for the True Detective iso files shows output as 1080p irrespective of the set resolution. Any clues?
    Thanks, Dave

Check recommended settings in the link below. Below 4K should be set to 'Priority YUV444 10BIT'

Also HDMI signal format should be 'Enhanced format'

FWIW, I just had this happen for the first time ever with my Z9x Pro while watching "The Other Guys" last night. The audio simply disappeared for 2-3 seconds and then came back. This was an MKV rip from a BluRay. No compression or other encoding. At first, I thought it was part of a joke in the movie...then realized...nope...not part of a joke.

Why Enhanced Format? It says to use that only if you have 48GB bandwidth and my AV receiver and probably all AV receivers tops out at 40GB? I kept if on Standard Format. It seems to be for 8K too? Maybe @Markswift2003 can chime in on why Enhanced Format should be used?

Thanks mate, I gave that a go but am still seeing the soap opera like effect.

Still seems to be outputting 1080p when output is set either to auto or 2160p 23.976. Have now tested this with other 1080p content.

Just wondering if it's possible the player is outputting something unexpected eg 1080p, 120Hz or something weird that's giving rise to the soap opera effect?

Just an update since I've had the Z3000 couple weeks now.. and with the latest firmware, it had been the best media box I've owned, really enjoying it. I know we all love to complain about this not working and that not working
But you always take your chances with devices like this (always looked at players like this as a hobbyist device) . I love I can Zip around from file to file and plays in few seconds, Trailers seem fine.. anywhere from 5-10 seconds for them to start playing. It really is a jump from my z1000.

SOE is the result of motion/frame interpolation and not directly related to frame rate - the Zidoo doesn't have any such processing (it's got the AI stuff but that's a different thing).

Check your TV settings - it can only come from there.

Yes, on this box it relates to colour subsampling modes for 8K (4K is not affected).

In Standard, only 8/10-bit 4:2:0/RGB are available which restricts the bandwidth to 40Gbps. In enhanced, up to 12-bit 4:4:4/RGB is available if the EDID allows, and this can reach 48Gbps depending on frame rate.

Setting to Enhanced just allows all modes according to the EDID and as I say, doesn't affect 4K (although personally I think it should also restrict 12-bit 4:2:2 50/60Hz etc for 4K only EDIDs the same as the Realtek boxes).

    Thanks again Mark.
Yes, you're right the LG was in some auto power saver mode and when I switched to Filmmaker mode it is looking correct now. Strange thing was I thought I'd put the input in Cinema mode when I'd connected the UHD8000, but maybe not?
I still don't understand if the settings on the UHD8000 are Auto or 2160p, why the UHD8000 is outputting 1080p? Not that the upscaling done by the LG is bad, but any ideas? Cheers, Dave

The resolution setting is ostensibly just for the UI - So Auto sets to the highest available according to the EDID and 2160p is, well, 2160p - in your case, both are the same.

If you have Auto Frame Rate set to "Match Frame Rate and Resolution" then content will follow its own resolution and frame rate.

Mine appears under the Roon Ready Section, but note the limited functionality

@Markswift2003 is the zidoo team planning on adding back the 2.35 GUI option? For users who have a scope screen, it’s really nice to have it fill the whole screen. I’m still on the fence about upgrading from my z9x pro….but without the 2.35 GUI option, that makes it a clear no, unfortunately.

I've asked and not received an answer yet - I can't see why not though.

That would be great if they add zoom functionality.

Can you please ask dev to add the categories of HDR10, DV, Dolby atmos, DTS x etc in category list?
