Hello, I just got my Z2000 pro yesterday and upgraded it straight to 1.058 beta. I have periodic light/quick playback stuttering, at least on 4K 23.976Hz files, I didn't test more yet. Output is set to match source frequency. The Z2000 replaced an old Egreat A5 which had absolutely not this issue with the very same files and all the same hardware around, so this is not a NAS/network/AVR or projector issue. There are no issues with the sound, only slight picture stuttering from time to time, but still annoying. Is there a setting that I could have missed, or just a bug? Thanks.
I don't suppose these are files with a Dolby TrueHD or TrueHD Atmos soundtracks are they? There is a bug at the moment whereby some (not all) TrueHD videos will judder periodically. I've no idea why some do it and some don't. None of my TrueHD content, or at least those I've tested/watched, exhibit this problem, but a few people have now sent me sample videos and I've been able to replicate the problem and inform the devs. As of yet, it hasn't been fixed.
Hello, thanks for your answer, no TrueHD, just simple eac3 stream for the sound. If this is not fixed in the next firmware which should arrive soon, I might return it, I didn't upgrade to a new €559 player to get stuttering/judder for sure.
But this is picture stuttering/judder, no issue with the sound. I plugged back my old A5 to test the very same files, no issue at all. So it's definitely an issue with the Z2000 pro. I still have to do more tests in the next days, with other files. BTW, this looks good in the 1.060 Z9X pro changelog: "2.Fixed the problem of normal audio but stuttering image in certain 4K clips during playback." I hope these are in the "certain" files category then
I think that was an attempt to fix the TrueHD issue I mentioned above, but I'm not sure, and if it was, it didn't work! If you want to send me a sample I can test it, but as I say, it's not something I've come across here.
Well, it seems I'm going to try to flash 1.065 first now And let's cross fingers that the stuttering will be gone. Edit: it's gone, the new firmware fixed the issue, just in time before I was about to decide to return the box
Sometimes with these boxes ( well the previous gen ) after doing a firmware update ,it pays to let it all complete fully ,then do a full power down with switch at the back ,for 20 secs or so Not always ,but ive seen it a few times over the yrs now ,the playback will be rough ,untill the full power downs done Others have also commented ,that it helps ( Not struck it yet ,with this range, but something to be mindful of )
Perhaps this is a partial explanation of the video playback issues I have been experiencing from the start.
Well, the issue is improved with 1.065, but not totally gone, I still have occasional judder, for example on scenes when a relatively close face crosses the screen. No TrueHD there, only basic eac3.
