WTF Happened to the App?

I just started the A6 and the app has changed dramatically. I am trying to figure it all out, but for one thing "CAST" no longer exists; it has been replaced by "Screen" which in my case doesn't work. The app screen is now all black and white. There is a new button labeled "listen at will," which I have thus far been afraid to hit.

WTF is going on?

 

It's the latest control app, I installed it today, much better than the old one. The Cast now called Screen works fine for me.

 

Thanks! WTF is "listen at will?" I did not previously need permission? What is "device playlist?"

 

Listen at will may mean just accessing your favourites, I'm not sure. And playlists as they have evolved on the Eversolo streamers, I never use them, others can help here.

 

That sucks, WTF MAN , I got a funny feeling I’m gonna be getting an iMac M5. I have plenty of dac’s I still use around here , Every time they shoot something over to you. The general consensus is going to be here. well, did you see our new unit we don’t support that one anymore I figured that was coming 100% sure of it but how about letting the year run out at least , you got a lot folks out there that are still purchasing the A8 , guess you would call it new old stock now, give me a break.,

I proceeded to turn the unit on to play a little music hit my Eversolo app and it’s basically tells me it wants me to load the whole thing up again not for that. app its awful let me go over and disconnect it totally from the Internet for the whole thing just locks up and don’t even turn on at all anymore at least part of will still be usable as a Dac ect ,A kid could’ve did a better Job,

Yes Sorry people, but yes, really ***ed,I absolutely respect your opinion if you like that new app if you’re happy, I’m happy for you as far as I’m concerned it sucks, I guess you can’t miss something you never had.
Sneaky move very sneaky., not the first time either that unit worked the best before I ever received any upgrades which they slid one in the middle of the night, Got the wrong guy here. OUT IT GOS , They don’t waste any time do they? You can keep the meters the ones that were added, that A8 performed best, sounded best, before they kept sending upgrades to it, if you read back on past logs,

A8, had a much better over all output gain unill it cut down to almost passive, output I have a Hattor pre if I were seeking such , its been a on going nose dive here,
then you take away the basic EQ spdif out , can’t use that anymore like A8 used to a real decent piece of equipment , And do you remember their comment on that? I absolutely do that’s only available on our A10 now, why not it was on the A8, worked great you decided to take it off .the handwriting is on the wall, I was just waiting for one more screwup now you gave me the excuse cool with me, no more streamers , should’ve just kept the set up I had well it’s a learning experience,


I can totally understand and respect that as a business move if you don’t want to support it with future firmware, but for Damm sakes, leave it alone….I Believe it’s safe for me to say for me forget about the Z 10. Dac , I don’t Believe that unit is for me, DAMM SHAME

Hello catcher , thank you for your findings on the control app new control app. I just left you a beautiful response. I hit something by mistake
And it disappeared and it’s entirety, I don’t have the energy to go there again, however, This is the third or fourth time that Eversolo
Has just maneuvered things around out of nowhere. I believe this time before last they just started an upgrade. I didn’t even know about
Due to it being in the middle of the night as I awoke to it the next morning

I guess you could call this last app change over just out of the blue was the straw that broke the camels back for me
When I first acquired the unit what really attracted me to a more positive degree was all the amenities
That incorporated as such if you read my above post, when I first obtained the unit we were on version,12.0——
I do not know or remember the rest of the sequential numbers perhaps someone else out there does

however, every time I received an upgrade or so called update or new version of, I lost something that I used and took daily part of
on the A8, in no particular order first the gain level dropped substantially, let’s see then we had my CD transport in which took use
Of coax spdif in No.1 input not being able to feed up to an external dac, internal fine still works great
Along with the use of also lost its conventional or regular EQ not available anymore, Eversolo’s response to this was as follows that
Feature is no longer available on the A8 it will only be available on the new A-10, ok not the end of the world as we know it

Where I was really bothered just speaking for myself unfortunately I have an iPhone with me almost 100 Percent
Of the time due to very imperative concerns, I have no other choice. I really never cared for iPhones, but you might say.
It’s kind of mandatory at this Present moment, I have no use or need for the factory remote. It’s still in the original shipping
Container never even tried it, So the iPhone was my perfect only controller and worked well. Worked very well.

So upon seeing this new app today just out of the blue, I guess you might say that was the straw that broke the camels back
I’m sure this is a very trifle change over or setback for most people or users, but it was somewhat important to me
Upon going to the new app that came out of nowhere today, I don’t know how many back-and-forth icons.i hit or swiped,
To get it to do what I already had before our most important changeover today I’m sure the new app is quite usable and tolerable
But the one that I was using presently using worked flawlessly wonderful nice, I personally do not care about the upgrades so much as
I did not see any substantial degree and overall sonic performance. I’m just not the type that cares about meters and blinking lights.
In other words, I don’t care what it looks like how fast will it go, ……

But however, on Eversolo‘s part and just my own personal belief and opinion, it seems to me what you are giving just speaking for myself
Is basically useless it should be left up to the user whether he or she wants to implement these new apps features and upgrades at their own
Personal decisions as per their own requirements and needs and wants, Not sneaking around in the middle of the night
Making useless changes just in my personal use and opinion I’m sure there are many users out there that will disagree with me
And I respect and support their opinions
however, thank you for that little bit of information. Please enjoy your unit and the music catch you on the other side thanks.

You should be same to disable automatic updates on your iPhone. It’s just in settings. I’m won’t do anything with firmware plays on the device but the reason the iPhone app has installed is because you manually installed it out you enabled a setting where it would be auto installed.

Hey no worries!! Sorry for late reply, we were at a music event last night. Anyhow, I understand your post, for the most change is never fun but for sure it is needed. I have an A6-Master Edition Gen 1, I'm not a big digital person as 90% of my listening is analog via records. But since I work from home I get to enjoy hearing music all day, albeit more of background listening. That is what I use my digital for, and then just getting the A6 in February, it's really my first streamer so I am trying to enjoy that but Qobuz is such a huge massive library its almost daunting to figure out what to play.

I really enjoy the A6 ME, it does exactly what I wanted so for me since its not my main listening method it works. As far as updates, I'm not 100% sure how they work, for example my A6 still has not received any new one, it still shows V1.4.32......Maybe all the new updates are not meant for the A6.

Anyhow, enjoy the music!

To me unables you to want to try new material on your big system, very nice I like that i idea. Nicely executed
I also spin quite a it of vinyl 2 tables, one mm cart & one mc. Then on to dedicated phono stage, old Manley and others it worked out well , however
I have been contemplating on perhaps using just one turntable, I wish it were that easy.

Not and isolated matter with the Eversolo A8, in only pertaining to a simple remote control upgrade , that’s really a very small and insignificant but a somewhat
Irritating new issue , There were at least three very nice amenities that that unit was capable of. Let’s say approximately one year ago
One by one Eversolo had eliminated them for apparently no good reason or if so, they had never made anyone aware of such…
I was a user at these particular amenities, and they he came suddenly not available unavailable as of now,

If you are not under any time constraints and feel like going back through past post without me getting into a very lengthy useless to no avail discussion,
About said features that gone for no good reason like I stated or suddenly just dropped as a few members had contacted Eversolo about these and other particular
Matters they were addressed with very blunt and decisive decisions. One example as follows, after numerous inquiries can you or would you
Please retain the gain level output to where it originally was. I remember one answer they gave was pretty direct , NO WE WILL NOT
Again another follow up answer in response to this question, that will only be available on are new flagship model the A 10

Now keep in mind this was basically their entire announcement on the other deleted features, how I look at this situation, how would
Yourself or someone else react if you obtained, and purchased a higher end pice of equipment of whatever it may be pertaining to
Say take it to the dealer for a check up or an upgrade and when you went to pick said UNIT up three or four of the features or amenities
That you want used and have gotten used to on a regular basis no longer worked or we’re deleted without reason unless you want to
Purchase our flagship model, they will only be available on the A-10 , I believe you can see what is transpiring here

however, the so called streamers rippers all in one box wonders I had never taken seriously or There MSRP Has nothing to do with it

Absolutely but I have gotten use as stated to some of these very convenient and useful features they were incorporated

Most people will never move at this those features or amenities because they never had them. They were never on there configuration.

That was just a matter of time no matter which model you possess or own. Enjoy it. I believe it will be totally unsupported.
in the not so distant future, However, what about the folks that just purchased one say maybe like yourself well, I guess you ran out of luck
Now to a certain degree, the unit will still be usable. I believe from my understanding as far as the dac and preamp and some other features
That are not overall Internet supported they should still be somewhat functional

I would certainly think the best of this company if they were honest with their consumers and went onto to explain why the changes
And what is going on and yes, when we may not be able to fully support it like we did in the past, but our unit will still be usable
And ongoing to a varying degree, I am not implying that it is an endgame piece of equipment or you will still own it five or 10 years from now
As new models and technology will always be moving forward to the point no matter everyone has to upgrade just like you do

An upgrade , very impressive indeed but extremely leery, I would exercise extreme caution before taking this download, not wanting to experiment with anybody else’s equipment, but let’s see how this plays out the features that they dismantle as said above affected everyone’s unit countless posts , at present, I am not taking downloads for anything anywhere sorry just my opinion,

NEWS FLASH, A while on this forum just now at present a new version device update has just shown up number v 1.4.75 absolutely none of my business, but I would not put this upgrade on my unit. Absolutely not know. No way sorry gotta Run ‍♂️ it’s tempting. I wouldn’t do it

 

The problem with shuffling this way is that you are not provided with a queue. When using the internal SSD, you can go to "music library," then "tracks," select any song, press play, and then select shuffle play, and you get a true shuffle play with a list of upcoming selections. Perhaps less elegant than a one-button "listen at will" solution but a more informative one.

The one question I can't answer is whether the machine's shuffle feature is still limited to 2k songs, as opposed to pulling from the entirety of the SSD. I was told that they were looking into a solution there too, but don't know if it has been implemented.

 

For the most part, I listen to songs loaded on my A6 ME Gen 1 SSD internal (will be adding a 4TB card soon). So I just do like you said, go to "tracks" and hit the "heart" icon......I have actually switched the app on my phone back to the original so the "listen at will" option is not available....

I'm good!! One thing I will not do is any of the current updates floating out there right now.......Too many problems being reported. My version still says v1.4.32, I never received the update push on my unit...

 

I wish i could get that original firmware it first had on board the unit, 12.0 ….., I’ll find it, my A8 worked performed the best, if I wanted all those, BS / changes I would had flipped them over myself,

I'm on v1.4.32 as well, but new software was obviously pushed at some point without prior notice/permission as betrayed by the changes to the app. I've looked without success for a toggle to turn off auto updates (in the past I get a prompt about firmware updates)

 

Go to the Settings then About and you will see the version software, a small arrow click that and a new screen shows where you can turn off the auto update feature.

 

Oh man. I agree the new app version is atrocious. I reverted back to the old one.

 

Please assist me as I’m not sure where in settings the cog wheel button is located? If you mean the revolving disc in the upper right corner that did not give any options to revert to the old display. Thanks in advance.
