Ooooooh, Rick, this is from another planet!!! Amazing piece of work. I listen to it at least once a month...
Artist: Dominic Miller Album: Absinthe Genre: Avant-garde / Jazz (but there's a little bit of many sonic influences here, amazing piece)
Artist: Attila Zoller - Ron Carter - Joe Chambers Album: Common Cause Genre: Jazz btw.: Attila is/was my Great-Uncle. He was the founder of the Vermont Jazz Center 1972, which exists until today. He played together with all the Greats of Jazz. He also build his own guitar, the famous Framus AZ10 which is reissued by Framus as Signature Model, but unaffordable for regular folks, like me.
The Framus AZ-10 is a modern revival of a classic jazz guitar originally built in the 1960s and 1970s for the legendary Hungarian jazz guitarist Attila Zoller, who played the instrument for many years. The current AZ-10 series includes two main variants: a single pickup model and a dual pickup model, both featuring a fully hollow body construction. This is really cool!!!
Yeah, Framus built the body, but he built the handwound pickups in their cellar in Budapest, so my dad.
This is what I'd like to call dedication. I would have loved to have an uncle, or a grand-pa in the jazz scene... you lucky one!!!
I'd love to have his Original AZ-10. All i have is a Custom-Shop 1957 Telecaster, with handwound Josefina Campos pickups (and a couple of others)
Artist: Fausto Mesolella Album: Live ad Alcatraz Genre: Ambient Guitar Pop/Folk/World Music His guitar sound is from outerspace!
Urgh... I need to listen to it, then. Before reaching out to grab the CD... (yeah, I know, this CD-thing may sound oldie, but that's how I keep possess of my music: physical media. it's becoming more and more problematic to keep-up to, nevertheless...) ETA at first glance... multi-layered, interesting. That classical guitar... looking online for sellers; if you know any let me know, you can save me some time (yes, I am lazy). ;-) ETA2 Here we go: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/5844803?ships_from=Germany
"I have to listen to this. Before I reach for the album... (yes, I know, this CD may sound old, but that's how I keep my music: physical media) " I have about 1,500 CDs and that's also a great medium and about 1,100 vinyl LPs. But we don't know artists like that, because in my country no one promoted them and you couldn't buy such records. That's why this forum is great, because we can discover unknown music. And with Tidal it sounds amazing.
@Tedy I match you at CDs, close to 15 hundred (and counting, as you can see...). Definitely not on Vinyls... I merely own 40-something, and they are all at my brother's premises, together with my Mission turntable... One day I'll possibly get back close enough to rip them all... ;-)
I like "Jovano, Jovanke" with Kayah... she has such a voice on that song! (well, she has a great voice to begin with, but her interpretation of that song...)
If you want to hear the real atmosphere of Bosnia, you must listen to the album,,Kayah & Bregovic" the best
Artist: The Hilliard Ensemble, Jan Garbarek Album: Officium Genre: Ecclesiastical Music from the 12th-15th Century accompanied by Saxophone. Definitely not everybody's cup of tea, but imho a masterpiece, worth a listen.
