I have a z3000 with the latest firmware. The Weather display on the main screen does not update unless I go into the settings and bring up the Weather app. Upon closing it, the weather retains that information on the main screen until I manually update it again thru settings. Am I doing something incorrect that the Front page Weather doesn't auto update or is the app or display not functioning correctly.
Also is there any chance that the Z3000 will get Roon Ready support as the Z1000 did in the past? Is the 8000 the only current device that has Roon support?

Do you have any internet disrupted/slow connection? Weather app is a bit slow to update.

The Z3000 is connected via cat 6 cable to 1gb fiber connection. The connection is rock solid. If the app only updates every half hour or so, maybe I am just not noticing any change. I will watch it a little closer.

markswift2003 could you please comment on the Weather App operation and the possibility of Roon support for the Z3000?

    Thanks to all.

Hello, Dsmeeze. Could you let me know what firmware version your Z3000 is running?
Roon support for the Z3000 is not stuff we have planned.
You may check the supported devices at https://roon.app/en/partners/120/zidoo

I am currently using Version 1.2.01. I leave the Z3000 running all the time, and in two days the front page weather display has not changed.
Is there a reason that the Z3000 would not be considered for Roon support. The device has analog outputs, so there must be some type of Dac onboard. The Older Z1000 had support and the 8000 has the same chip set.

Thank you for your time and attention

I would also like to see Zidoo 8k devices, specifically the Zidoo z9x 8k, become Roon Ready certified like their predecessors. One of the reasons I purchased a z9x 8k was that it was reasonable to expect that it would be Roon Ready like the Zidoo z9.

    Good Day,
The NEW firmware Version 1.2.05, has NOT corrected the Weather application. Is this on the 'TO DO LIST' for a later firmware?
Also what is the reason the Z3000 is Not going to get Roon support. Quote: (Roon support for the Z3000 is not stuff we have planned ) WHY NOT? I believe Zidoo could sell a much larger number of devices if they had Some kind of Roon support.

Never really understood Roon - why pay someone to show you the stuff you're already paying someone else for??

And don't you have a weather app on your phone? On your media player? No thank you

And likely why they have included a switch to turn the function off, if you desire. Others might find that information useful, as is the clock you also can control from the settings. The apps display is nicely done, surely they have intent of correcting the issues with it. I don't have a phone in my Theater. I'll take my Time and Weather information. Thank You.

Obviously you are very knowledgeable about Audio equipment and all the things that encompasses. Your help, knowledge and support is one of the reasons I purchased a Zidoo player. Thank you so much. I would Think you might understand why Roon support could be a boom to the Zidoo devices if you'll just check out what it has to offer.
Roon has the ability to take your local music library, and almost any other music sources you have, (Ex. Tidal, Qbuzz, Spotify, and host of others) into one searchable library. Included with that Library are large amounts of metadata giving you information about your particular music choices. Album reviews, Band reviews, and lyrics are just some of the information provided. Like Netflix, they also provide suggestions for 'LIKE' music that is in the same vane allowing you to cue up anything you might find interesting from your particular sources. I could go on, but I would suggest if you aren't familiar with Roon, go take advantage of their free trial. Outstanding software very well supported, with lots of information available from additional sources and groups. Far as I know, there is nothing else on the market quite like it. Other Zidoo players have Roon support, along with Eversolo devices. Why doesn't the Current series have it?

Thank you - I truly appreciate those comments, I really do, but I honestly never understand this reliance people have on aggregation services like Roon.

I'm in my (mid) late 50's and have a massive collection of vinyl, CDs and digital music - but I'd rather curate and manage this myself - I've used Squeezebox since day one (way back from when it was SLIMP3) and my music libraries consist of hundreds of thousands of CD rips and several thousand tracks worth of SACD rips. All Managed by Squeezebox/Logitech and now Lyrion Music Server.

I was so happy when the devs told me that Squeezebox was being supported! Best thing Zidoo and Eversolo ever did for music! Brilliant!!

I use Spotify, I use Amazon Music. I most definitely don't use Apple Music and honestly can't be arsed with all the rest and certainly don't want somebody to charge me to squish it all together and tell me what I can listen to (when I've already paid for it).

If I'm honest, I also have a very low opinion of the way Roon is run too, but I probably shouldn't go down that road...

So I know Roon has a lot of supporters, but I'm not one of them. And most of that is not to do with the service they provide, but it's to do with the way in which they "provide" that service.

My modus operendi in life is be nice and don't be a dick. I can't be doing with people who don't do that.

    Just my 10c worth...

Make of that what you will ;)

(and I sincerely hope that doesn't come off like being a dick!! It isn't meant to)

Thanks for your honest reply. I certainly don't think your a dick, and value your opinions and input. You have been a Champion here for a long time. Thank You! Sorry to say I have you by a few years, and have a fair collection myself. Most of it has been ripped and settled into various different applications before Roon came along. Foobar 2000 has been a friend for a long while as has Win-Amp. Not sure I understand the problem in 'the way Roon provides that service. I would love to hear your opinion. If it is not appropriate for the group here. PM me. If not I certainly understand.
Like you when Zidoo provided support for the Squeeze Box, I and a lot of other people would be Ecstatic, if Roon were to be supported on the 8K boxes. Also not sure where you get ( tell me what I can listen to (when I've already paid for it) from. Roon has no hold on what Music I play. Using Qbuzz which integrates beautifully, I have access to most any music I could ever want, in an easy to use and understand format. The Information that Roon provides in Reviews and metadata is second to none. Guess we can agree to Disagree.

Yes indeed, in the nicest possible way let's do that :)

Now if Micheal Herger was running it, I'd probably think differently ;)

I also have an extensive collection of music, acquired over almost 5 decades. I wrote a CDDA player for the Amiga, called CeeD that was the first software to have a CD database and the ability to submit CDs information to a crowd sourced database. Later I have written CDDA ripping software for several platforms and worked on BeOS drivers. I even get credit in the book MP3: The definitive guide, by Scot Hacker.

My weapon of choice for organising and exploring music was Amarok. Unfortunately it was not maintained for many years and the forks (Clementine and Strawberry) are missing some of the features. It looks like Amarok may be back though, I'll have to build it from source and give it a look-see.

From my perspective, I want a self-hosted solution, I don't want my music to be in the cloud or my data being used by some third party, aggregate or otherwise. Anonymous remote retrieval of metadata is fine by me, but again, I want to make local copies and have it all self-hosted. I hear that many of you feel the same. I am glad that Zidoo are putting in effort to MP for local music. I think for the remote stuff, they should just provide a plugin SDK/API and let 3rd parties have a go.

IMHO open platforms, ideally Open Source, are the best choice. That's because they give people an opportunity to build on what's there and provide solutions that would be uneconomical for the original developer to implement. In fact, Open Source platforms give the community an opportunity to maintain and enhance a product long after the manufacturer has moved onto the next best thing and ceased support.

There are many, many examples of closed systems pulling the rug from under the users, causing grief. IceTV, TiVo, Logitech, Sonos, ...

Up a couple of replies, Zidoo support stated," the problem has been reported to our Tech staff". I was curious if anything had been done to correct the problem?
    Thank you for your time.
