VC-1 MKV stutter / Lipsync issues

Discussion in 'HDD 8K Media player(AML S928X)' started by Me_diaPlayer, Mar 17, 2025.

Recently I tried to play a VC-1 MKV. Impossible to watch it with the constant micro-stuttering/frame skipping. The very same file plays perfectly fine on my HTPC with madVR and LAV Filters on a RTX 3080.

Those VC-1 issues plus the lipsync issues with DTS and other audio codecs (AAC for example) are very disappoiting and frustrating.

And yet another VC-1 MKW with micro-stuttering/frame skipping yesterday... Is anyone able to play VC-1 MKVs without getting stuttering on these 8K boxes?

Try TsMuxer to convert your mkv VC 1 file to an m2ts file.

It fixed all VC 1 stutters for me.

Other option will perhaps work....using handbrake to convert your mkv vc 1 file to an mkv h264 avc file.

The first suggested option is the quickest in time.

I only have about a dozen or so VC1 movies, so I'll give this a swirl! I'm still having this issue as well, it's been there since day one.

Thank you for sharing the TsMuxer workaround! It seems to work for me.

It looks like the last and final version of TSMuxer has been released

    https://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR

“2.7.0 Final:I have decided to cut a proper versioned release of tsMuxer, as I feel now is the right time to say that development on the project has stopped. I no longer have the time I once had to dedicate to leading the project. I am thankful to everyone who contributed their time, effort and other resources into tsMuxer. If somebody else wants to take up the reins they are free to fork this repository. If there are any resources they need from me please feel free to contact me”

    Good to hear.

If you have any other troublesome files with avc or hevc codec it will probably solve those issues also.

Hopefully someone else will pick up this in the future.

It's true that it is always good to have maintained software, but the current version of tsMuxeR does everything it needs to do, right?

I haven't used it for years - in fact I kind of forgot about it - I assume they fixed the TrueHD issue (wouldn't recognise TrueHD audio tracks)?

    Yes it is fixed.

Only minor issue I have found using tsmuxer is that not all metadata from mkv to m2ts is transferred....like video bitrate information.
