Why shouldn't I believe you? There are other users who don't have any problems, but who do experience stuttering with V1.2.40.
It's all very strange. I might reset the player to factory settings to test it out.

I experienced stuttering with P7 when playing from internal SSD and USB 4x HDD enclosures.

Sorry, "Believe me" is just a figure of speech.

Interesting - So in both circumstance, USB is being used (SATA uses a USB>SATA bridge).

As I say, I am able to replicate stutter on a USB stick but only with one particular known problematic file (a Profile 8 "hybrid"). I've never been able to get a Profile 7 (or any other file) to stutter on USB - but this is only using a USB stick, nothing more complicated*.

I expected to be able to replicate the same stutter from the same file on an external SATA drive (because of the USB bridge) but I was unable to*.

I have also never been unable to replicate stutter using Profile 7 content under any circumstances, either USB or SATA*.

    * again, I am ignoring the circumstances where I can replicate stutter with AI plus AI OSD since I don't consider that "real world".

These are the latest notes I provided regarding stuttering. If anyone can add to this it would be helpful:

    (UPDATE) Stuttering

Stutter still occurs under the same circumstances for me with v1.3.06

As I’ve always said, this is NOT something I see on a day to day basis, however, people are still reporting it.

I think it may be to do with certain Profile 8 Hybrids, but the Dune player does not have this issue, so it’s not a SoC problem.

I can only to replicate it under certain circumstances:

    1. Using both AIPQ and AISR and having both AIPQ and AISR OSDs switched on

This will induce stuttering in the clip below, and also after 1.5 - 2 hours of continuous playing of standard 4K remux HDR10 and Dolby Vision Profile 7 content.

(Note: I understand that AISR does not do anything with 4K content, but I still need to switch it on to induce stutter)

    Clip: https://mega.nz/file/hThggAIL#TDq5FiZlrd8oFlDG8hdf1U4B0OKlOu-4jgVYpsNevdc

    2. Using a USB stick as a source (but notably, not a SATA source)

I can induce stutter in this case without AIPQ and/or AISR but only with the problematic clip above.

This happens with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

It does not happen with SATA.

I cannot replicate on USB with remux HDR10 and Dolby Vision Profile 7 content (unless the conditions in #1 above exist).

I tested again, playing about 15 DV (Remux, no WEB-DV) films from the NAS and 15 from USB HDD and 3 films from the internal SSD for a short time. None of them stuttered. Even though some of them were films that had stuttered before over USB. Over NAS not testing befor.

I'm sure that if I want to watch one, it will stutter... :(

I must admit that I've NEVER had an issue with playing content over the network - I have 20 (yes, 20!) NAS drives for various reasons and I never have an issue over the network - I have well over 100 clients and quite a complicated setup for a home user with multiple switches and two WAN connections (one FTTP and one FTTC) and it just works and always has.

But I've never had any reason to use USB storage (other than for testing) so that's a bit of an unknown quantity for me.

Same here ,zero stutters ,or audio issues ,thou all mine are pretty much usb hdd sources ,since win 11 update on PC ,killed my smb shares

Only issue still ,is the random reboot ,when theres hdmi switching ie if i switch out to tv to watch youtube and then switch back ,or rarer ,after finishing something ,backing out to menu and start watching next item ,3-6 secs in box will reboot .Tried with both CEC fully on and fully off ,no difference

Has anyone else noted Mark's UPDATE to his post above mentions a 1.3.06 firmware?

    Perhaps testing a new beta?

I noticed that, but it's clear that he gets FW for testing that we never get our hands on. The question is, what was the reason for releasing this?

Hi! I just got a Zidoo Z30 Pro. I updated to firmware 1.3.05 and explored its features. What would I like to see in future versions:
    1. Gapless playback on multichannel.
2.Web-based editor for the Music Player 8.0 library (similar to Control Center for cinema)
    3. The ability to correct duplicate artist names and correct errors made by the image creator.
    4. Make it possible to edit the Artist and Album in one place, on the album.
    5. The ability to edit the interface of music player 8.0, hiding unnecessary services and moving the remaining ones to any location.
    Thank you.

Don't get too excited - there was a change to SDR.2020 handling on .05 which was completely broken and .06 just reverses that (and breaks something else!).

I also played your attached file from an USB memory stick. I haven't any stutter or audio problem in different scenarios involving AI image process. In fact, I never had stutter problems with my UHD8000. All files are played from the internal HDD (16TB movies) and SSD (4TB music), or through the external USB ports.
My only dissatisfaction with this media player are related to the music player features that has a few shortcomings compared with UHD5000 (lyrics display and lower integration with the File Manager).

Interesting - so can you confirm that you do not see stutter from that clip when played on a USB stick?

I just want to point out one thing.
This "new" range of players—new, so to speak—has been on the market for almost two years. And after all this time, we're still here talking about problems, instability, stuttering, and various bugs. Honestly, this isn't normal.
I completely understand the initial difficulties on a newly released platform, but after two years, certain issues should have been resolved long ago. Instead, we risk arriving at the launch of the next range with the same problems as day one.
The thing I personally find most frustrating is that a few firmware updates ago, the situation was quite stable overall. Instead of improving further, it ended up worsening the experience.
Sorry for the outburst, but after a while, it's normal for patience to wear thin.

I would like Zidoo to buy Dune and implement its home theatre on their hardware and firmware. Or Dune should buy Zidoo and implement Zidoo's home theatre in Dune.

Because the two have something that the other doesn't have, and together they would be an unbeatable media player.

I can't help but agree with you - but to the extent of a box with Zidoo's eco-system and the stability of Dune's player.

Pretty sure Dune won't be buying Zidoo though :D

In case anyone's interested, those pics of Zidoo's office came from here:

    An interesting watch.

I have another idea. Now it's Zidoo's turn to steal the firmware from Dune to learn the secret to firmware stability on the Amlogic processor. :D

Lol - it wasn't actually Dune who stole firmware from Zidoo - it was Zappiti back in the day.

A simpler idea... allow us to revert to a previous firmware version that worked better... and focus more on fixing problems than creating useless features and new issues.

This is a regular pickup point and service center in Moscow and there are also ones in Latvia, Singapore and China. How does this relate to Zidoo's headquarters? Moreover, what impact does a beautiful building have on the stability of the company's operations and the release of new firmware? What benefits does it provide for the average user? DUNE recently released new firmware for its old 4k line (RTD 1619 DR), which is the same as the 8k version.

I agree, the menu navigation on the Dune is disastrous.

I played the clip again to be sure of my comment.
Yes, I confirm that I don't see any stuttering in your clip when playing from a USB stick with AI PQ and AI SR enabled, BUT with AI PQ and AI SR OSD disabled. After enabling OSD for these two features, I perceived a slight image stuttering.
