Yes, using the pause button is the easiest way to demonstrate this but I wanted to check that I get the same results on a file start as well.

I don't know why your setup has such a long delay and mine doesn't other than to say that they are different setups. Quite obviously the Zidoo is capable of such a low delay otherwise mine wouldn't do it.

Does the Onkyo have a HDMI audio input setting for the input to which the Zidoo is connected? If that's set to AUTO that might introduce a delay rather than setting it to HDMI.

One thing Dolby streams have to do is initialise dialogue normalisation (Dialnorm which is held in metadata). DTS does not have to do this. There are also sync flags in Dolby that don't exist in DTS. So Dolby codecs are often slower to synchronise - also some amps will deliberately add time to stop pops as the decoder kicks in.

Why TrueHD is immediate I'm not sure - perhaps because it's uncompressed or maybe because it doesn't have adaptive bitrates - it would certainly be a different initialisation procedure although it still has Dialnorm.

Today I was watching a dvd9 rip. The music stopped when I skipped to the next chapter.
I exited the dvd..te enter to a different chapter (previously playing sound). Still no music.
A trailer from a movie..also no sound.
I had to restart the zidoo to get sound back.

(Just an incident for now)

 

Is it your case for some reason?

 

Thanks, I need to check that more closely. I played a few MP3s today, and with some of them there was no delay after the pause.

I don't know if I'll continue with music. I rarely listen to it at home, mostly in the car when I'm on the road, and it's not important for now. Tomorrow I'll calibrate the system with the new receiver using DiracLive and then we'll see.

 

Ive always used USB drives ,especially once i built a win 11 PC and smb doesnt work (tried every single supposed work around )

Music is on an internal 4 TB hdd ,and theres always 2 USB Hdds plugged in for movie/tv (plus an SMB share hdd on my Router

ive never had stutter issues on any of the models Z9S Z9X Z9xPro or this Z30 8k

Drives uses are 90 percent SG 2 / 4 or 5 TB HDDs plus the odd ssd

I have the base model (see sig), and use a 4 bay DAS vis USB to the Zidoo....not had any stutter (apart from VC-1, which one can fix using by remuxing into an ISO file)...since the very early days.

Just got the player, updated to version 1.3.05

I have some weird playback issue on files above 45-50gbps mostly bd remuxes, the playback stops and the player timer continues, and the video will restart after some time, any ideas?

 

Anyone can help with the naming? Why 2 of my series instead of correct name just shows Series1 and Series2. Rematching didn't help.

after testing further, i found some titles in H264 displaying the same behaviour. BUT it May be the " picture in picture" mode that we can find on some titles, that is spraying sunflower all over this. PITA

When a movie is finished it automatically restarts, does anyone know how this can be turned off?

 

in settings there is a setting for this..repeat, normal, continiously ( or soemthing similar)

 

These updates complete broke my Z9x 8k, Its in a continous loop to scan my movies folder, i tried resetting the whole unit, now when I add my NAS it scans 1/2 way and stops, when I go back to sources it says waiting to scan. I try to rescan, and it does the same thing. I've tried deleting the cache, reinstalling the app, resetting the whole unit, updating to the newer G beta. My unit effectively is bricked right now for playing anything... No idea whats going on..

 

When you say "i tried resetting the whole unit" and "I've tried .. reinstalling the app" what do you mean?

 

TMM is a really good program. The only thing i can't get to work is the collections from within the program. Have to rename all of the file names every time to:
Collection Poster: CollectionName-poster.jpg
Collection Fanart: CollectionName-fanart.jpg
Would be appreciated If someone knows how to do that from within TMM.

and in artwork scraper select the first option in movie folder

That doesn't help with stuttering either. Yesterday, I tried to watch a film (Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 7.6, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, no metadata compression), but it stuttered.
After pausing and pressing play again, it ran smoothly for 5–10 seconds, then stuttered again, and so it was again and again.
Why did I believe again that a new update could bring something good? I didn't want to install it, what a mess.
The new one didn't bring anything new anyway for me, just problems again.

Everything was working fine with 1.2.40. Zidoo, I want this firmware back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
