Found some bugs and issues testing the new firmware this weekend:

    1. HT crashes back to main page if you browse a collection that is larger than one screen and you try to scroll to the right side too quickly. If you let the animation play and slowly move through it everything is fine. I can reproduce that with South Park (20+ seasons) every time. Open it up and just keep the button to move to the right pressed. It will crash the moment the cursor leaves the screen.

    2. Ratings are still totally buggy. I can select "Source own score" and IMDB in settings (why no TMDB and what is source own score actually supposed to do). When selecting IMDB it will properly update the ratings to the IMDB-ones in a VERY long process of about 2 hours for 4000 items. Once you refresh the metadata of a movie you unfortunately get a TMDB-rating for the one you refreshed, kind of messing everything up. As I have to refresh metadata rather often (or even rematch) to get runtimes showing, this is a deal breaker for me. Please fix this and let us properly choose IMDB and TMDB and let the refresh metadata process select the proper source for refreshing the ratings. Additionally some TMDB-ratings are totally off until you refresh metadata once, for example the movie The Fall Guy showing as 8.1 and dropping to 7.0 after refresh.

    3. When playing from the Media Center folder view it usually crashes back to main screen once the file ends instead of staying in the folder. Not all the time, but mostly.

    4. Runtimes are still not showing properly and are therefore missing for about 25% of the movies. When you refresh metadata they might pop up, when you rematch once or twice they usually do. For some movies they never show, but you can sort by runtime to see the device actually has the runtime and just does not show them.

    5. Genre filters are still showing double. For me the second set of filters work (like the second Action-category it displays in the list), the first set shows empty results.

    6. Some ratings exceed 10. This seems to happen for TV-series, like Dead Mountain having a rating of 10.6. In general I would like an option to not have the ratings for TV-shows showing, as they are kind of useless anyway. And as long as you do not get it done 100% better not show it all all.

    7. The icon for the watched state could still use a background so you can see it on a bright cover.

    8. Watch history now shows all items you ever saw which I think is fine, but it should sort by the date you saw the show. The way it is working now, it is completely useless for me showing me a list of 2000 shows I have seen which seems to be randomly sorted.

    9. When filtering by duration the runtime was shown in the poster background. This was useful but seems to be gone.

I also have to ideas how to improve HT without too much work.

    a) The unwatched category should be seperated to unwatched movies and unwatched tv shows. I hate the tv shows clogging it up and showing on top when you sort by rating.

    b) To be more in line with things like Kodi scrape more metadata. I´d love for stuff like awards showing, more rating sources, IMDB-top-list etc. This would be a very cool and in my opinion easy to realize addition.

Aside from the bugs nice update. Scraping is really a lot faster now and so far I had no samba-timeouts when the server is in energy saving mode.

    HT 5.0. 76 bug report:
    * When you change the poster image, it doesn't show up in posterwall IU until you restart HT.
"Refresh metadata" doesn't do the job either.

I don't see that. If I change a movie poster it changes just fine.

One slight issue with HT. For TV eps the 'Watching' info on main screen always states it is Episode 1 you are currently watching

It fails in my system fw 1.3.05 non_G version - HT 5.0.76.
It happens when TDBM but when nfo is used, then it doesn't change at all in IU but only in the movie page.

    Hello,

i'd like to report a bug. ( not necessarily from the last Firmware. i'm not sure)

When playing Full Disc ( i have isos, maybe that is also the case with BDMV) with VC1 titles ( 1080p) :

-> launching the movie without going through the menues -> Framerate switch ok ! 1080p Outputting at 1080p
-> Lauching the movie with the menu -> menus are in 59.9 hz ( should it be?) but then, when hitting play, the movies starts but stays in 59.9hz but Outputs at 4K ( ??)

I have not noticed this behaviour with AVC/HEVC titles. -> whether or not going via the blu-ray menu, they change to the right framerate.

i've tried King Kong ( P.Jackson) and ( Houba Houba marsupilami) , both in VC1, both the same "bug".

My Settings for local playback -> match framerate and resolution ->i want my tv to upscale.
My settings for UI -> auto best settings.

    Hi All,
    Just rece
    New owner Z9X 8k here.

As long as someone is looking at DAVE1971's reported LPCM 5.1 bug, I'm having a problem with LPCM 4.0. It only plays two channel "stereo" 44.1kHz (I think)

No it does not make sense at all. If the currently active mode is the same as previous mode, there's no need to reset it and cause a HDMI re-sync.

Not only is it completely unnecessary to re-initialise the HDMI port to exactly the same settings, it is outright harmful as it causes all the equipment in the chain to waste time and drop content until it becomes ready.

I reported this before. The issue is that the additional genres/categories have a leading space in their name. For example "Horror" and " Horror". Some code somewhere is not trimming leading and trailing white space. It should be an easy fix if a Zidoo developer could be convinced to look for it. @Zidoo Support-Kim - any chance you could convince someone to check this please?

    Hello,
This is the comments and requests,Among others , made to @Markswift2003 ( and to @Zidoo Support-Kim ) since z9x 4k, but it has never been taken into account....

    I am reporting further issues.

The day before yesterday, I was watching an episode of a TV series in 1080p when micro stuttering appeared (similar to the Dolby Vision movie I reported). I pressed the stop button and restarted playback, and the stuttering stopped.

Yesterday, I continued with another episode in HDR10+ ---> micro stuttering appeared, black screen appezred and the Zidoo had to restart alone..
After restarting, the micro stuttering disappeared...
This has happened three times in three days... And the video files are all different (4K DV 24Hz, 1080p 23.796Hz, 4K HDR10+ 25Hz).
I'm sorry to say this, but when an update is officially released via OTA on our devices, it's not normal for us to hesitate to install it for fear of encountering problems... An OTA update should solve problems, not create them...
For me, this version is the worst I've had in terms of performance (not functionality).

I find that with this update, HT is fast but has a lot of problems.

It's strange, because for me, the sound precedes the video... but not by much, and the resynchronization takes about 5 seconds (if the box doesn't restart on its own).

    We'll agree to disagree then.

But one thing that isn't a matter of opinion is harm - of course it's not harmful!

Resync is a function of the display chain, not the player - the signal change at the Zidoo is immediate - so different sinks react in different ways. Adding AVR for example will usually increase sync time. My old projector took 15s to resync, my new one and Samsung flatscreen take about 5s combined with Denon AVRs and are much quicker without. Other displays I use, less than that.

Yes, I understand that, but the sound comes much later than the image...
If there is an AVR between the two, the sound is supposed to arrive earlier because there is one less handshake.
If there is no AVR, the sound and image should arrive at almost the same time, right?
However, I just thought about it: if the sound is delivered via eARC, then yes, it can arrive later, right?

Yes, the sound precedes the video here too, hence "understanding what they're saying".

I'm not sure what you mean by "sound comes much later than the image".

    On my setup there's a 2s delay for AC3, E-AC3.

There's zero delay on AAC, LPCM, OPUS, TrueHD, TrueHD Atmos, DTS, DTS-HDMA, DTS-X,

    I can live with that.

    @Naiera :
Sorry, I misunderstood, I understood the opposite...
I should have studied harder in school for English... (And Google wasn't much help either... lol)
    @Markswift2003 :
“The sound comes in much later”: that's what I understood from Naïera, but I misunderstood
But that's not the case for me. I'm on yours, so no problem... (except for the jerks and restarts of the box)... sorry...

Gotcha - @Naiera is talking about HDMI sync - a different thing.
