No worries, it's just to improve my new knowledge of this system.

 

Gapless playback is nothing to do with HDMI sync, it's to do with the player - as far as I know it doesn't support multichannel FLAC gapless.

 

Indeed the MP8.0 does not play gapless. (until now)
Kodi can play gapless on the zidoo. So it's not a technical/firmware issue

 

Have you checked the ouput from Kodi? Last time I checked, it is fixed at 48khz for Music playback, which is a limitation of the standard Android audio chain (Zidoo use their own sauce to bypass that limitation for MP7/8).

 

I have deinstalled kodi. I only tested if it plays gapless.

Interestingly I tried multichannel FLAC on a Dune AML box too and it has the same problem - so maybe when playing natively (Kodi will be using a software player) this is a SoC issue?

And I'm very tired of 2 machines (dmpa6 & z3000) not handling multi-channel music correctly .

That is really bullsunflower.
There is an extreme difference between 2 seconds of silence or a change in sample frequency. The last is claimed unhearable by a lot.
2 seconds of silence is noticed by any live form with perception of sound or pressure.

There are ways the circumvent the issue, sure and you could focus on playlists.
Still the difference is huge!
The device stops for about 3800000000 clock cycles!!!!! What is it doing?! ( It informs me of the actual time. )
5 cores not having a clue for aprox 2 seconds

I'll take 48khz any time instead of this madness!!

 

How often do i have to quote you on this?
any non subwoofer format is converted to stereo and everyting is 16 bits

Just installed version v1.3.05_G. I haven't encountered any problems so far, and they finally fixed the HDMI audio output stuck at 48kHz. Everything's fine so far, but I'm looking forward to testing it further in the next few days.

 

Just unboxed brand new z9x 8k and plugged in.

Im asked to update right away to 1.3.05
