I understand your position and I even understand that the file could be well or badly done, what I don't understand is that this same file in a Dune 8k has no problems and in zidoo 8k it does, that is the question and why zidoo engineers should investigate, as some others have commented, it is very random, it does not always happen, and the same file can work well without any failure and you can view this same file again and then fail, it does not make sense if the file was wrong, it would always fail

Yep - I get that - but I still need a file to test because all the files I have tested - and I have an extremely extensive collection - play absolutely fine. I still have yet to find a problem with ANY file I have here.

So far no-one has provided me with a file that will not play on a Zidoo but will play on a Dune (I have both players here of course).

@Markswift2003 - Hey Mark, any update/feedback on the white range issue - I know it's with AML, but thought I'd ask.

It's a shame that my knowledge of how to cut/upload a file is limited, so I can only provide information about what happens to some of us and see if it can be corrected in future updates. Thanks.

I will just say I downloaded 2 Season 2 Wednesday 2160p DV files with the same profile as the one mentioned earlier and had no issues playing on my Zidoo. No stutters, no audio dropouts or any video or audio issues on either one.

I use TVled to my AVR then to my LG OLED.

We can argue about that Mark.

    Zidoo:
    - Brings out many updates and adds a zillion of functions and features. In fact the range of support got incredible by now.
    - Updates have mostly some regression problems included, to be fixed with another one neither being flawless.
    - Previous generations are almost instantly totally forgotten about. Occasionally there were some (minor) updates in the past.
    - Rolling back FW releases is made impossible by using incremental updates next to disallowing downgrades.

    Dune:
    - The latest generation receives a update/fix a few times per year. Updates hardly have regression problems an if so are fixed with dedicated minor fixing updates fairly quick.
    - The FW is limited functionally compared with above all Zidoo but also is very stable with very few known bugs.
    - Typically once a year a big new generation FW is released. The FW's new functionality is then made at the same time also available, as far as HW allows it, to several previous generations.
    - Rolling back a FW release is as easy as upgrading it.

Yes a very different approach but may appeal to those not needing the many extra features and preferring stability for what they actually use.
Currently use my Dune HD Max for watching movies, streaming TV services plus playing BD Music albums mostly and my Eversolo DMP A6 for music.
Backout to my Zidoo Z9X 8K occasionally when I need something special to work and also for FW testing.

My expensive and very nice Zidoo Neo X (has an amazing HW build) and Neo Alpha players just sit in my rack unused which is a really big shame. Reason many FW things solved and mostly easy portable never got implemented for those players. Keep in mind: The Neo OLED screen is not used by the Video Player and no handicap there!
The RTD1619 BDP series in fact never clearly surpassed the RTD1619 DR series regarding stability nor features strange enough. Still it just got frozen in the same way.

You have not mentioned one very important point - the ability of Dune to roll back the firmware. The fact that new Zidoo firmware may contain regressive errors (at the moment in my case this is exactly the case), in these conditions the impossibility of rolling back the firmware makes the user's position hopeless. I cannot return to the firmware 1.2.22, which was not perfect, but was very stable (in comparison with other firmware) in its basic function - content playback.

No argument there - that's the one and only advantage that Dune have over Zidoo, although I have to admit it's never caused me any grief and I've never felt the need to go backwards. But the advantages far outweigh that one disadvantage.

This is why I always make my own profile 8. It's so easy that a child could do it when you have the right program.

The sound periodically drops out, and you have to switch audio tracks or rewind the video.

    Agreed.

I extract the RPU to Profile 8, encode the base layer with Staxrip using an NVidia card to 30Mb/s, peaking at 45, then inject the Profile 8 RPU into the encode.

It sounds heretical, but I'd challenge anyone to see the difference in a blind test.

Will this firmware be available for the 8000 at some point?

Hello, can someone send me a link to an update from 1.2.42 to 1.2.42G version ?

Because it's a test beta for Z9X 8K only, I don't think there is one.

You may wait for next version and install the _G one over the previous one.

I don't want to talk about advantages or disadvantages, everyone sees it differently, but you have to keep in mind that if you do this, you can never go back to the no _G version.

  20. So I received a Z9X 8K late last week after a year and a half of using a Z9X PRO and have been trying to get to grips with it, I installed 1.2.42 and the latest stable poster wall apk (5.0.58).
All my files are stored on a NAS and everything is connected via ethernet. All HDMI cables are 8K 48GBPS certified and the rest of the chain is an Onkyo RZ-70 into an LG G4.
I am getting what I can only describe as irregular but persistent glitches/Stutters/frame drops, whatever they are the are definitely happening.
I did mention to Mr Swift that VC1 MKV's were the worst and he did make a suggestion regarding that, but he assures me on his personal systems that h.264 Blu-Ray rips play flawlessly.
Unfortunately on mine even h.264 Blu-Ray rips are doing exactly the same thing, as well as MPEG MKV's, not every time, for instance sometimes if I power down or change a setting it will play fine but then the next thing played will be a mess.
I wondered if it might be the chain so I plugged the 8K direct into the G4, no change, I also tried plugging it straight into an LG G2, same results.
Are there any other users here with LG display's having similar issues or could it just be I have a bad 8K unit and I need to have it replaced?
