v1.2.42, v1.2.42_G Beta version for Z9X 8K

I had the Z9X, Z9X Pro, Z2600, and Z3000 Pro, and none of them worked properly for smooth movie playback. If it wasn’t a sound problem, it was an issue with picture quality or colors. They always felt like beta versions. I’m now happily getting rid of Zidoo and switching to Ugoos, which is far better than any Zidoo device.

Ive has Z9S , Z9X ,still got Z9x Pro in bedroom and Z30 8K in main lounge and theyve all been consistantly smooth (barring the earlier f/w on the Pro range ....thou that was sorted ,too )
Only sound issues ive had have only been MP issues ..ie not playing MCH dsf files correctly ,and all sorted on all the players now EXCEPT the Pro range ,where its never worked correctly

I'm delighted for you. Now you can chat with other Ugoos owners in other forums.

Hello, With the current version 1.2.42g, I'm having video issues, but only with TRUE HD audio (Dolby Atmos). For example, in Deadpool 3, it stops every 12 or 15 minutes. I hope you can fix this, as I didn't experience video issues with previous versions. THX

Have you got Passthrough Compatible Mode on in Audio Settings?

No need to write. Everything is working smoothly from the beginning even Profile 7 FEL

everyone got passtrought compatibile mode on audio setting....but until firmware 1.2.25 the problem was solved....now with these (1.2.40 and above) firmware audio stutter again...
already told you... if you (that are ever really kind and gentle ) can forward the problem to the developers ,appreciate much

Of course, probably all posts are just thank-yous to the developers?
Latest Help & Support/Ugoos topics - CoreELEC Forums

Profile 7 is overrated, and not everyone likes Kodi (I don't.). I was once ready to buy a Ugoos for tests, but then I looked at the forums and came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me.
Ugoos does not fit my vision of a media player with a display, a good remote control, a web interface, a good poster application, and good picture and sound quality.
There is no such thing as a perfect media player; you always have to set priorities and make sacrifices. I sacrificed P7 for all the other features that Ugoos does not have.
You have your priorities, so as I said, I'm delighted for you.

I have already passed these reports onto the devs but so far we can't replicate any of them.

I bought a Ugoos to see what all the fuss was about with CoreELEC - and it's very clever, and yes, Profile 7 FEL is played almost perfectly - I say almost because you do get the occasional frame drop, although it's nothing to worry about.

It's not as configurable as Zidoo boxes and of course nothing like as user friendly and for me the big problem is Kodi - I really dislike it. So it's great as a plaything, but not for serious cinema use.

But at the end of the day you pay your money and you take your choice.

And is there any qualitative difference when the FEL is used? Nope, not really, not in the real world. Certainly not worth jumping up and down about.

in my stupid opinion Ugoos is for the nerds..... they like to modified all options and configure everythings....
but i dont think has the video and audio quality of zidoo.....
the zidoo are "ready to use" ( ok maybe :D:D:D:D:D) and with better home and poster and movie info .....
zidoo are for cinema enthusiasts, ugoos for geeks

To be fair, the Ugoos is based on the AML S922 which is the predecessor to the S928 so image quality is about the same and audio is irrelevant because for most people it's a bitstream.

But I get your point and being at both ends of the spectrum (geek > cinema enthusiast) I kind of agree. As I say, it's a nice toy but I'd never use it in the cinema.

Not sure what you're doing wrong over there, but mine are working awesome over here with an OG Z9X and 2 Z9X 8K's in daily use. 3-5 hours a day on average and with current firmware are pretty much perfect these days. There are no picture quality or color issues.

That's kind of my experience - except I actively LOOK for problems and try my best to screw things up - but other than a few niggles here and there, it's quite difficult these days :D.

It's been quite nice having a new version of HT to pick through recently - because it's a new build there have been some genuine bugs to squash, but we're nearly there too...

Yes, I felt like there have been a lot of little niggles that have been sorted over time and at this point I would struggle to come up with much of anything that bothers me or goes wrong. I just sit down and use it without issue every night now. If anything, maybe small feature requests or improvements, but certainly no "picture quality or color issues".

At a certain point, if you have issues with EVERY machine and do not follow the instructions posted here on what to do because you think you know better, maybe the issue is not the devices themselves but how you are using them?

Little known fact I rarely mention, but I used to own (and then sold) one of the largest CI (Custom Install) companies in the UK - and we used to have a term for that - Finger Trouble.

But I rarely accuse anyone of it because it's usually greeted with the same animosity as when you criticise someone's network (and of course everyone's network infrastructure is always beyond reproach).

But in my experience, most issues are caused by one of those two things. The big problem I and the devs have is separating those from issues genuinely caused by the box. It's quite tricky!

In the Real Estate game there's a saying - Location, Location, Location. In this game it's Replication, Replication, Replication.

I handle Regulatory complaints for a worldwide financial institution and 90% of the complaints we get for people having issues accessing our website are User Error. That is our term lol.
