hello I have been having a weird issue since installing the v1.2.42_G version and the theatre 5 updates
I am using the built-in jellyfin app connected to my nas, this has been working and connecting with no issues.
After the updates my tv shows played without issues but when trying to play a movie I was getting an error "can't play video". After a lot of trial and error I found that if I went to settings in the app and mapped the movies section directly they play no problem. What I don't understand is both the movies and tv shows are pointing to the same directory the tv shows play fine but it won't see the movies. I never had to do this previously
Looking for any suggestions as to what might be going on
    thanks

I use Jellyfin for all of my media playback on the Z9X 8K and it has been working fine, but with 1.2.42 I get the same issue. @Rainer what settings did you have to amend to get it to work again?

FYI This refers to the built in jelllyfin app
if you go to settings in the app, look at the 2 images, go to movies and highlite it, then hit the menu button to map the directory
if you look at the images the first one shows what was there originally, the second shows where I mapped it to which are actually the same location
    hope that makes sense
I realize the first pic is for Shows but it was the same location other than it being Our Movies not Our Tv

Thanks @Rainer, I hadn't even realised that there was another options menu there to allow mapping, worked perfectly.

@Eki Shaw , it would be great for the Jellyfin app to get an update so you don't have to manually map network folders (I am sure that you didn't have to do that on previous firmwares). Could we please also get the 'up next' feature that the android client has?

Your welcome, however its just a work around, as far as I know you shouldn't need to map anything, that's why you have a Jellyfin server which is supposed to handle that and stream it to your zidoo or which ever device you are using. so its definitely a bug which will hopefully be fixed. I'm surprised that we are the only people with this issue.
Have you tried the android version from the google play store? It has a switch to allow you to use the built-in video player and seems to work properly, it may be a better option for you.
I have older music videos and using the built in version they get upscaled and use the built in player, in the android version for some reason they don't get upscaled.
There are some other differences as well and the built in app has fewer features and settings hopefully they will continue to develop the built in version it seems a little buggy

    Hello,
I don't know if it's a coincidence, but for now I haven't had any more reboots of the Ziddo due to CEC since the day before yesterday.
I forced the DENON to HDCP 2.3 and the Zidoo to HDCP 2.X, and I haven't had any problems since (I just activated the TV remote control on the Zidoo's CEC).

How did you force the Zidoo to HDCP 2.X?

Hello! Is it possible to add an option to double the output framerate for interlaced video? Or simply double 25/30fps to 50/60fps (like Dune)? Now, if I played a 480i/30 video with "match framerate" on, it would just output a deinterlaced 1080p/30 video, but since it has 60 fields, dropping to 30 can cause judder. I know interlaced videos are not that common nowadays, but they are still used in DVDs and BDs and it's nice to have this option. Thanks!

Yes, I didn't express myself clearly. I forced HDCP 2.3 on the Denon and enabled HDCP on the Zidoo...
I forgot...the HDMI PASSTHROUGH must not be set to “last,” as this also causes reboots.

What’s your display resolution and frame rate? Mine is stable at 4k60 but reboots at 4k23. I did play around with HDCP.

There isn't a frame doubling option but it's not needed, nor is it desirable.

The Zidoos play back at the correct frame rate and deinterlace smoothly so no judder. Deinterlacing 60 fields to 30 frames does not introduce judder (unless the field order is incorrect of course!).

You'll see judder on an interlaced file if the field order is backwards and also, often, because of the nature of the content, it can be telecined, which introduces judder because of dirty frames caused by pulldown, neither of which will be fixed by doubling the frame rate.

The box upscales as needed to allow the correct frame rate, so for example, a 480i30 video will be upscaled to 4Kp30 because 30fps isn't a legal frame rate for SD HDMI. It doesn't go to 1080p, it uses the maximum resolution dictated by the EDID which is logical.

To the contrary, the Dune behaves rather erratically and DVD files are unwatchable if auto resolution is on. Regardless of the frame doubling setting, 576i25 is output as 576i50 and 480i30 is output as 480i60, but both with terrible continuous judder for some reason.

Setting the Dune to "Prefer Double Rate" does not affect the above and the video still plays back erratically and it has to be said that 480/576 are not great modes to output to a 4K TVs these days because the OSDs become horrifically mangled at those resolutions.

You can mitigate this issue with the Dune by turning auto resolution off, but there's no need to do this with the Zidoo. In this case frame rate doubling works, but there is no subjective difference whether you use it or not.

My display resolution and frame rate is: 3840x2160p 23,976Hz,
edid: customized (Denon +my oled tv)
    HDCP: on
    Regarding the CEC:
On the Denon in Video--> HDMI PASSTHROUGH: do not set to “last” and normally do not set to “media player” (or the input assigned to Zidoo)... It has been working since the day before yesterday, and since this afternoon I have been trying with the setting on “media player.”
    Zidoo CEC: on
Turn on the TV when the Zidoo starts up: on (It's not working at the moment).
The TV controls the Zidoo commands: on
    Everything else is off.
For the frame rate, I set it to frame rate only.
And for now, I'm not getting any more restarts...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way...

Thank you for a quick and detailed reply. Maybe I didn't express clearly. I'm not referring to telecine judder. The actual frame rate in an interlaced video may not be 23.976/24. It can be flexible, or even variable. For example, a silent movie can sometimes be encoded in 1080i30 instead of 1080p24, because it runs in 18-22fps, and encoded in 24fps would make it run unsmoothly. In this special case, 30 progressive fields per second are not enough for a smooth playback, so doubling the frame rate makes sense, because that's the fields number per second in the video. An Oppo UDP-203 blu-ray player behaves similarly. If I chose "UHD Auto" under "Custom Resolution" in the setting, I'll get 4Kp50/60 for 1080i25/30.

I posted this elsewhere but didn't get a response so I'm reposting it here. I'm having a few issues with my Z9X 8K (v1.2.40 -- connected to Anthem AVM 70 8K via HDMI):
    1. Audio dropouts - I get audio dropouts (very brief, but super annoying). This happens with Qobuz, SmartTube, and Kodi. I have all settings set to audio passthrough (RAW) -- that said I've also tried Audio>HDMI>Decode>Auto and gotten the same result. If I restart the Zidoo this issue goes away. So basically I have to boot the Zidoo and then restart it and there are no audio dropouts.
    2. Qobuz selected device - from what I've seen, to get full audio resolution past 96 kHz Qobuz Connect needs to be utilized. Sometimes when I select Qobuz Connect, the app closes and reopens to the player (which I think is the expected behavior). Other times nothing happens and when I click Play. In this case I need to keep switching the output back and forth in Qobuz until it force closes and reopens. Side note: it would be great if there was a preference in Qobuz to default to Qobuz Connect so users wouldn't need to manually switch this setting every time they initiate the app.
    3. Video frame dropouts (SmartTube) - I get occasional video frame dropouts in SmartTube. It's not every video nor is it a regular frequency. Most videos play correctly. And it's not an issue with the video - I can go back to the spot where the dropout happened and it won't happen there again. I did not have this issue with my Dune media player. Kodi and other sources work as expected so I think this is an app-specific issue. Any SmartTube ninjas out there?
    4. File manager spazzing out - I networked a drive from one of my computers via SMB. Sometimes when I open the file manager, the sidebar on the left keeps reappearing making navigating the file menu nearly impossible.

Are you getting AFR that's actually working within SmartTube? If so how? What version are you running?

It obviously doesn't work correctly now.
