v1.2.40, v1.2.40_G Beta version for Z9X 8K/Z30 PRO/Z3000 PRO/UHD8000

  1. Since my box updated to I am now getting stuttering on most of the movies I have tried to play (mkv, 4k, atmos)

I am getting no stuttering on my TV shows (mkv, 4k, atmosphere)

The only difference is they are on different "drives" (same Synology NAS, just different virtual shares)

Tried a couple movies that previous played without issues, and sure enough, they are stuttering now too...

So I'm not the only one... you also lost transfer speed with the AML model.

PCM 2.0 96 кГц на USB DAC идет 192 кГц (BD iso)

If you have firmware 36, check the PSM 2.0 96 via USB DAC. I think it used to be 96, but on firmware 40, it's 192

You have to select it manually in the HDR10 settings - unfortunately at the moment it's not automatic - not sure if that's a SOC restriction or not since SDR.2020 is not a standard HDR mode.

Mark, I haven't had time to properly test the new firmware in all parameters yet, I've been busy. But I noticed that if you turn on the media player and the TV is off, the resolution still switches to 8K (this is visible in the application). But after turning on the TV, the media box does not reboot, as on previous firmware, but switches to the resolution I set in the settings 4K, 23.976 Hz. This is a positive change, apparently the developers changed something in HDMI synchronization

I haven't noticed that - mine are always connected to a Vertex so they have an EDID permanently connected to the HDMI port.

Since I have higher speeds with both devices, 100–110 MB/s with Realtek and 80–90 MB/s with AML, I assume that it is partly due to your network. Can you describe in as much detail as possible how your PC is connected to the player?

Having run the new fw for a couple of days it's apparent that none of the issues in the Music Library discussed here have been addressed.

I.e. the Scan errors persist, and, worse, so does e.g. the Audio Source choice bug when having to use the "Reset the Music Library" function due to the recurring Scan errors.

Zidoo spends resources in the Music area to add fluff such as "Spectrum full screen display", "Trendy web radio" etc, but not to troubleshoot and fix bugs in the basic functionality. Yuck.

I want to warn everyone who valued the stability of firmware 1.2.22 and have not yet managed to update. You are lucky. Stability is lost. Low-bitrate 4K TV show files play without problems. The very first Dolby Vision P7 movie was jerky from the very beginning. I rebooted the media box. When I tried to run it again, the movie froze and again required a reboot. I ran the movie again and it again plays with periodic random jerks. I ran another movie with the original video stream from the disc (Dolby Vision P7) and it also plays with periodic, but frequent random jerks. Tried the third movie and it also runs with occasional random jerks.
P.S. After the update, I reset the settings to factory settings, and then configured everything exactly the same as it was on firmware 1.2.22. I can't find the reason for this behavior of the media box

Hello, @Markswift2003 Quick Question. When firing a brand new player, the " allow beta detection" is off by default right?

when switched on, does it ask which version to install or it proceeds with the newer? can we choose?

    thanks

As I understand, you recommend a factory reset after this update?

The reset was done immediately after the update.
I recommend not to update and stay on firmware 1.2.22

I certainly don't think there's any need for a factory reset after a firmware update - A hard reboot (power switch of rear) is good practice though I must admit I don't bother.

    Yes, off by default.

If on, it will always select the latest public beta when available.

    Thanks Mark.

so if i want to stay at 1.2.22 on a brand new box i have left betas unticked and install the firmware a la mano. Correct?

I'd probably untick both boxes - I think they're unticked by default, but worth checking.

Why do you want to stay on v1.2.22?
