I use a 4 bay DAS (upto 8otb) and it's whisper quiet. I found my old Z1000pro far to noisy with an internal hard drive.

I have a UHD8000 in the cinema - when it fires up the internal fan runs for a few seconds - if that continued I can tell you it wouldn't live in there any longer! But it stops and then remains silent (obviously no internal HDs fitted - all content is from the network).

My projector, quiet as it is, is in another room projecting through a projector port with sound insulation and two panes of 99% non reflective projector port glass set at opposing angles specified by Dolby with the airgap (not in the light path) filled with closed cell foam.

I'm quite serious about sound insulation when I watch a movie and I'd rather put forks in my eyes than have a hard disc whirring away in my cinema.

    YMMV

    :D

Maybe the 8000 either has different sound insolation to the 1000, or maybe a different mount internally? I can only speak as I find.

No, exactly the same - as I say, I have no drives in the 8000 and wouldn't entertain putting any in there if it was in the viewing room purely because of the hard discs chundering away...

See, I missed that bit! The Wife will feel vindicated "you're eating, why are you on a forum when you have paused Babylon 5?" :D

We wish the Zidoo team a good rest.
However, we'd like the developers to keep in mind that some users with firmware 1.2.40 experienced video stuttering issues, which were fixed in firmware 1.2.22. These users have no option to downgrade to a more stable firmware and are eagerly awaiting improved device stability, as we have no other option.

I completely agree, I can't stand background noise during playback.
My USB 4-bay DAS is in a closed cabinet under the television, and I can still hear the read head noise. That's why I only use the DAS as a backup for the NAS in the basement and watch films either from the internal SSD or NAS.

The cinema is light controlled and always dark and I have a little day/night cctv camera in there which clicks when switching from night to day mode - which can happen in bright scenes - so part of my room-on macro is to switch the camera off :)

Hi, how do I update to this version? I have version 1.2.01 and a UHD8000. Thanks for the reply.

Skeered here, sitting on 1.2.22. Debated 40 or 42 several times.. hate to create more stuttering, I have a little from time to time..

On firmware 1.2.22, stuttering occurs OCCASIONALLY. I've experienced this about once or twice a month. On firmware 1.2.40, the problem is daily. Stuttering occurs after long viewing periods (more than 1.5-2 hours). Stuttering also occurs if I frequently use the rewind/fast-forward feature (jumping by 10, 20, 30%, etc.). In my case, only a device reboot can stop the stuttering. I've also had this issue about five times now: when I start a movie, the wait wheel spins endlessly, but the movie doesn't start. I have to reboot twice. I don't know why it has to be twice. Rebooting the device once doesn't resolve this issue.

ahh, that doesn't sound good, did you try the 42 firmware ?? to see if its any different ??
my z9x i never was concerned about flashing, since you can roll back if i recall.... the 8k you are stuck...
thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

This firmware is only for the Z9X 8K. Those experiencing issues with firmware 1.2.40 will also experience the same issues with firmware 1.2.42.

Not sure what occurred, but I was watching a TV show, part of a series of 10 all in a single folder and the TV went to black screen and when ,just seconds later, it came back to the Zidoo GUI, the folder was empty. Very strange. All the rest of the folders on the drive were fine.

Local HD, NAS, DAS? Windows SMB etc? are files still phyiscally there but not showing in HT, or now gone?

that was the first thing I checked. The files were gone. No longer on the physical disk. In the past, I have had files disappear on the Zidoo, but were still on the physical media.
