v1.2.25, v1.2.25_G Beta version for Z9X 8K

If you don't recover the audio, then it's a new issue I've never had.

 

I have a JVC NZ8, and I use a HTPC with JRiver34 as my main player - The best combination is HDR to SRD 2020 tonemapping for all file types (it converts SDR709 to SDR2020, just wonderfuly), thus I leave the projector on a default setting of SDR 2020 - I use the Zidoo Z8X as my secondary player, when the HTPC runs into a problem (and it happens oftenly!).

 

Can be recovered by a few clicks rewind or forward. This problem is on all of my 4 players. I still love the box.

 

Ok - I was going to suggest using LLDV and DTM on the PJ (that's what I do with my NZ800) but it's more complicated with JRiver involved - although still possible - you'll just need to switch mode on the PJ which isn't a huge issue depending how you control it all.

I don't think there can be a universal SDR.2020 output on the Z9X 8K because of VS10 (although I may be wrong) - I think it'll just be for HDR10 content and hopefully natively for SDR.2020 content.

But I'm waiting for feedback from the devs on native SDR.2020 content and then I'll ask about Rec.709 > SDR.2020 to see if it's possible. Dolby Vision Profile 7 should be possible too using the base layer, but Profile 5 could be tricky.

Could you ,when the firmware goes out officially ota, fix the "weather options"?
Like i said before, with ethernet works well,with WiFi no... Cause when the zidoo connect to WiFi you need some seconds... Ethernet is immediately.
And the weather app start immediately after the home screen appearing...so too soon for WiFi
The solution is simple,let the weather app start some seconds after the box start home screen.

I have to be perfectly honest and say I haven't ever given the weather a thought - in fact I turn it off on my boxes.

I just turned my weather app on, removed the ethernet cable and connected on wifi. Then I rebooted and the weather app seems to work fine.

v1.2.25 is a public beta - a bit like when we used to get the Z9X firmware before all the other boxes in the Realtek days. The OTA for all boxes will be incremented a couple of versions no doubt and contain additional fixes since v1.2.25.

 

Mark the problem is not that don't work...
Mine is like you.
Problem is ,when you use WiFi, the app start but don't update...
If you continue to use WiFi and weather app in the next days... You will see the weather and degrees same as now.... not updated....
I know its not important, but can you put in the "fix list"? If not, please turn off completely app ... Cause if dont work is useless (works only with ethernet).

IMO there is no need for weather app in Zidoo boxes as everybody is watching more efficient app in internet. It works slow and out-of-date when starts, then useless at all.

 

Put me in the camp of why is that even on there. Always seemed like an out of place odd inclusion to me. It's always right there on my phone widgit anyways.

Although if it is there, might as well make it work properly.

With WiFi don't works well (it doesn't update) . With ethernet works well.

Mark another little bug in 1.25.
In WiFi static ip (new option, ) the dns change don't work. Even change, remain 8.8.8.8 (google dns).

OMG.. yes the Weather app is so stupid to have. But for my "duh" moment.. how to disable/remove from the 1619DR and 1619BPD devices? I don't see that option..

 

I'm afraid you can't on those boxes because they just have the generic Android launcher as a home screen. If you don't configure the weather you just get a generic 15-18 degrees with no location showing.

The new boxes have a custom launcher similar to (but much nicer than) the Realtek high end boxes and the weather widget can be completely switched off.

Nope. Firmware downgrades are not possible. Sorry.

As far as picture and HDMI sound are concerned, all models are equal.

As you go up the range you add hard disc options, different case options, internal power supplies, linear power supplies and far superior DAC options for music - but as a video media player they all perform the same.
