Does anyone experience rare (once in 30 minutes) audio dropouts with Z3000 Pro? I use the HDMI audio output to the Marantz Cinema 30 directly. With the same setup, but SR8015 instead of Cinema 30, I haven't had any dropouts.

    Hello,

do you use HDMI Audio out? or the HDMI Main ( audio + video) of your Z3000?

I don't have a clue what's happening here - my only suggestion is a factory reset I'm afraid - It's a shame you don't have an HDFury - you could see what the box was outputting, if anything, when it happens.

Not really an issue, but I want to report a strange bug: in my setup, Z3000 Pro (1.2.22) hdmi audio is connected to Yamaha receiver, while main hdmi is connected directly to Philips tv. If I turn off receiver while watching Dolby Vision content, picture on the screen "lost" DV information and colors become super distorted. I've tried to disable all possible CEC-related options on all devices (receiver, zidoo, tv) but no effect.
Since this happen only when I'm any way going to turn everything off (like during final credits) that's not really an issue, but still can be an indication of a bigger problem.

Would I need an HDFury if I have a madVR Envy?

Depends what you want to use it for. MadVR and HDFury products are very different things.

One of the things I'm trying to troubleshoot is the Zidoo Z3000 Pro audio HDMI port output, which gives me occasional 0.5-second audio dropouts. I see that the HDFury can do audio stripping, so I thought to try it to see if the issue is with the drifting HDMI clock in the Zidoo HDMI audio, which Cinema 30 might be sensitive to.

I am using separate HDMI outputs for video and audio to reduce the HDMI handshakes and long black pauses that occur when the AVR is in line.

If so, the question is where to put the HDFury: Zidoo > HDFury > Envy > Projector or Zidoo > Envy > HDFury > Projector.

Another thing I am trying to resolve is that my PJ Epson LS12000 doesn't switch to the proper rate when I send it a 59.94 Hz video. It switches to 60.00, and I get occasional jerking. The Zidoo and the Envy show proper 59.94 hz output. Could the HDFury help here?

    Thank you!

Ok - so firstly, if you get an HDFury I'd do:

    Zidoo > HDFury > Envy > Projector

If the Zidoo shows output at 59.94 then the output is 59.94 and the Envy is confirming that. The Epson is therefore receiving 59.94 and can't change that - only a source (or a video processor can change the framerate). The Epson will probably report 60Hz for both 59.94 and 60 despite displaying them correctly.

The same goes for 23.976 and 24Hz - a lot of displays will simply display 24 for both modes.

All the HDFury would do in this instance is confirm the framerate - there's nothing to actually do to the signal since it's already at 59.94.

If you go Zidoo > Envy > Amp > Projector wouldn't that reduce the resyncs because the output from the Envy would always be 4K SDR so you should only get a resync on frame rate change - or have I misunderstood?

In my experience, passing video via AVR makes the black pause 2-3 times longer. Why are you saying Envy sends fixed 4K SDR?

Also, could you please relate to my question about stripping audio with HDFury and the placement of it in the chain?

    Thank you!!

I thought that was the point of the Envy? - to send a tone mapped image to suit the display? And the display being a projector, SDR is the most suitable. I assume you can also scale if required so that the signal is always 4K and therefore output is always 4K SDR with the only variable being frame rate.

But you have to bear in mind that I don't have an Envy so don't know the configuration logistics.

Sorry - I don't see a question regarding stripping the audio, but yes, it has that facility.

You could place the HDFury after the Envy but then everything going through the Envy would be subject to whatever settings you use in the HDFury - I find it advantageous to place it before, in my case, the receiver.

But placement all depends on what you're trying to do with it and to what sources you want it to act on.

The HDFury devices are so flexible that you kind of need it there to play with to figure out what it does and how it works.

I tried a reset earlier this week. Yesterday, it showed my music folders as all being "invalid". I tried to initiate the back-up,which completed as normal, but all the folders remained with the "invalid" label. So I did (for the first time since owning it) a full "Restore Factory Setting".
Very interesting, putting in all my music folders and rescanning them was amazingly fast. The last time I did it, about a month ago, it took over 6 hours.
I am very interested to see if this solves the issues I have been having.

Additionally, if the new FW comes out this week, that changes the situation also.

I'm always curious why people report long scraping times - usually it's to do with HT and not MP but there was one recently quoted as "hours". I have no idea why (well, I do, but I keep them to myself these days...) when I know that scraping is usually less than 1s per movie. I think scraping time (for HT) has increased recently, but there is a new version on the horizon I'm just testing.

When MP8 was first released I remember scanning times were way too loooong, but that was a long time ago - and I think we got that fixed before public release. But then MP is a different beast - you should ALWAYS have a tagged collection - MP will do it without but music is a very very different beast to video and, I'll just repeat again for effect - Music files should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be tagged.

Really interested to see if this fixes the issue - if it doesn't I'm kind of out of ideas!

Personally Mp7 > Mp8 aside from the MCH issue on the last model series. But the GUI and Lyrics functionality were much better on MP7 for me.

Zidoo seems to have some issues with .arm subtitles that overlay the video (not the standard subtitles at the bottom). Here's an example file:
    https://files.catbox.moe/bf1c7j.mkv

Here are images of how the subtitles load properly in VLC on MacOS, versus not loading properly in Zidoo.
