so I have had to go back to my UHD5000, the 3000 8K box continues to have frame rate issues with this firmware and both boxes stopped populating artwork, in other words the 3000 is completely useless and the 5000 is at least playable. Whats the word on fixes?

me too! Hours just wandering the isles and checking stuff out. Also back then, pre internet, it was the goto for parts, cables etc.

Maplin kind of took over the mantle for many years, but they went bust in 2018 which was a damn shame. Used to love it there too.

The Maplin Brand name was bought and is used as an online store and even Tandy still sort of have an online presence:

Tandy - The Home of Electronics
Maplin Electronics | Batteries, Cables, Chargers, Cameras, Lighting | Maplin Electronics

Not at all the same, but it's nice to see the logos again.

FWIW Eversolo are showing a new release - a DAC-Z10 at the upcoming Munich HiFi show. Billed as High End and also a piece of kit with a Hedphone Amp (and poss a surround DAC?) - this isn't anything to do with the X9 is it maybe?

Not directly - there are a couple of new pieces of Eversolo kit debuting at Munich High End. Still not sure how Luxin fits in...

If they are so skilled at audio. Can I expect gapless playback on the next update?

The answer is simple: The origin of the brand name LUXuary SINusoidal is a perfect example of marketing-business-money. The elitist price (€1,100) and the audiophile features are certainly up to par. But you can almost find much cheaper equivalents without the kiksh aspect of the touchscreen to display VU meters!

Still among the new products from Eversolo, in addition to the Z10, there is also this one present in Munich: EVERSOLO PLAY

I do find comforting the fact that zidoo is the only media box brand that makes HIFI boxes too. as a music enthousiast i feel like i'm not forgotten when i buy a zidoo. I mean the skills you get, developping Hifi soft and hard, surely benefit home theatre products.
