Well, first I've heard of it!! It's not even clear what the X9 is?

Looks a bit like a Heathkit (for those of a certain age...).

Not a clue how this piece of the jigsaw fits in..

So if by chance your copy is the same as the one I just got then it doesn't open with a Dune either which leads me to believe it's possibly of questionable origin... ;)

I'll try a couple of others on that list...

Yeah, but they will focus in what's newer and selling better: audio.

Obviously this is a product for huge Chinese and Indian markets.

    It's a DAC & AMP.

Seems odd that in one market segment it may compete with Eversolo.

IMO they are entirely in a different level.

Yeah, does look like a serious bit of kit looking at the specs.

    Anyways, back to Zidoo Land.

This makes sense and explains why the developers have not solved the stuttering problem for almost 2 months, apart from many others. The developers were pulled away from Zidoo to develop this weird retro-looking thing.

Initial thinking is who is this going to appeal to? It's a Headphone Amp & DAC and the DAC is nothing better that the ones in my UHD8000 and DAC-Z8. I have a perfectly good Headphone amp but I seldom use it. Nothing special @Oldpainless imho but have merely looked briefly at the X9's specs - I await to be enlightened by you maybe ;)

Not sure but I bet they'll have beards and knitted tanktops ;)

Yeah, fair point - I only took a cursory glance...I guess the new (ish) AKM chip caught my eye. Happy with Topping, so I'm good.

Ok - looked into this a bit and it's not a problem with Paramount discs per se, it's possibly a problem with certain Paramount discs (when I say possibly, I only say that because I don't know if this is restricted to Paramount, but I suspect so).

As I said, I have a few here - off the top of my head, the first two Quiet Place movies as examples, and they place perfectly. However, I just got a copy of Event Horizon and that plays the Paramount vanity card fine but doesn't get to the language selection - it just shows a continual blue screen (which is the m2ts that sits behind the language graphic).

I know I said months ago I'm not getting involved in BD playback, but I'm curious on this because it's a complete failure - so if I replace the main m2ts with a small dummy m2ts file I can send this to the devs to look at... it'll just be a mishandled mpls file.

It plays ok on a Dune but there are a couple of glitches as it starts so definitely something awry with this one.
