    No pb.

the fact is that R_volution player 8k ( not talking about pro or signature) is a pricy device. And customer/technical service not very responsive.

So after some private messages here and over at TMDB, decided to take advice and try Zidoo support on this issue myself all week, same as always...no response. I did find out though whats slightly going on with the API TMDB situation:

Apparently TMDB been inundated with really ***ed of Zidoo customers about this and they been also trying to reach Zidoo but falling on crickets for them as well. Some weird reason Zidoo deleted and recreated API keys which broke whatever key they have locked in with this last update so until Zidoo gets something corrected and reaches TMDB about it...this issue will stay as is.

They are very confused as to why someone would do this lol. I agree from my experience in software, key should have been ever fine for the future ahead and wasn't even required ever by TMDB to change to a new one.

One of the attempts to reach them I offered an idea, Kodi and many others have side options for users to slap their own API AUTH KEYS and accounts to TMDB to have control over how they pull info. Which helps because then you aren't locked to just Movie and TV content, there is side OTHER categories and the ability like i know as a contributor to create your own metadata for home videos, music stuff, so on and grab it that way.

Anyways I wasn't calling out this situation to cause drama either like some messages at me been saying. I don't even get the attacks in that area or the reason to be ***ed off at me for posting hey there is a problem with this update. I am just fed up guys, I have asked for help on one unit for almost a year and 3 months, and seeing my movies stuttering and freezing on this new unit then this scraping fiasco with TMDB just concerns me.

Well I get proactive to figure stuff out when I can't get info out of companies and theres your answer as to exactly why this problem is going on. And to me, its a nonsense thing that shouldn't have happened but it is what it is. TMM for me is no go, I just found out I lost my paid account info and I am just not gonna toss more money at a problem like this. Hopefully it gets corrected and maybe someone who is more close to this team can nudge them that TMDB is trying to reach them and they know what the issues is. I tried and I give up trying to help.

I'm using the free version of TMM and it's plugging the gap until Zidoo pull their finger out.

Yea I thought about just doing that but sadly buddy I just got this new model last month and I sit on a collection of 5K movies at least to scrub through, which I could do if I had the time but I have a business going and time is so limited. I am content to wait now that I seen some form of answers to what is going on. It should have been fixed over night though which is confusing me. Its down to basically a line of code from what I am hearing to just reauth to a new key. Unless there is some new plan in this company to host their own Metadata, I just don't get the reason for key changes out of nowhere.

Its all good, I am disheartened by the amount of headaches I have seen since switching to Zidoo when I got the z2600 and mainly because I know its good internal hardware, boxes are super well made but won't mean much if they can't get this software stuff ironed out and with the same quality and care as they do building the hardware. I have hope they will eventually get it right, just been a long road for me personal to this stage and this one is so mind boggling to me to have even been a thing in the first place.

No problem, I originally just called this out myself to find out what is going on but I just can't get info via Zidoo support so figured just look into it. I been with TMDB myself a long time helping build up the metadata as I come across missing titles and sections so I have a heart for that project long term and a lot of sweat into it myself.

I think this can be corrected and I know how the staff is over there, they tend to help where they can and I suspect they will keep trying to reach Zidoo till someone in this company decides to contact them back.

I do think an option to allow us as users to control our own AUTH KEYS should be considered though, opens up more options and a potential route to avoid moments like this. They can still keep it on their keys but I am very sure it can be done where we have an option to use our own TMDB accounts and API access. Kodi has that, why not here? Its just an open source scraper in the end, should be treated that way...its not a Zidoo project lol

I’m afraid they’ll fix all the issues, or it won’t be able to play normal by the time they release new machines this year. That’s so cruel to customers who spend so much money on their devices, only to sell them unfinished. Believe me, it’s unbearable to watch any movie without stress or problems. What’s the point spending £500 on a product? Every year, they come with new promises.

Hello everyone, just a quick question if the TMDB scrapping is gone for a unknown amount of time.. Since i purchased a couple of new DVD's and rip them some days ago, I would like to ask if some method or techniques exists to add those movies manually in my Zidoo library ? It wouldn't be perfect but at least we could do something.

I also think that the input of 'srfalherty' is very relevant, put the authentication key in some config file would allow us to take some initiative by using own key. This would be a fair attitude of the Zidoo crew.

See thats my only complaint from the rip calling this issue to light. Its not just a scraping mishap with auth keys. I have my z2600 in a box, I now and then have pulled it out of the closet to check for firmware updates to find out still none which makes the box useless. I literally can get a movie on there to play to watch it force close HT5 almost every time midway into a film. Stutters, it won't keep settings for display. Its a lot more to my story on this and the battle to speak to just one soul in this company about it has not gone anywhere for a year. Why I even tried on a new model is beyond me but I bought into the promises I heard in the forums and talk via youtubers that maybe the 8K line was a better situation and this issue just slapped me into a very concerned spot.

I get some posts in here view this is just a media player and trust me my Zidoo issues are not a life thing I worry about. But whenever I buy something and its not working I make sure I reach a company to get answers and this one is the only one I have ever dealt with where I can't even reach anyone and I am not too pleased I spent on 2 devices over a grand and they both don't work as advertised. Heck I don't think I have ever seen a film on these yet that flows fine beginning to end without some issue. I even had guys in here tell me its how I back up my movies, I been doing this stuff since VCD's and funny how these same very films play fine on Plex, Kodi, my old HTPC and Nvidia Shield directly off USB. Thats a real issue to be talked about but who do you even talk to is my question?

Thanks for that, I think this is a very topical option seeing how this TMDB thing happened. Actually to me it would enhance our uses of this media player. My account on TMDB I stored videos of my kids growing up and even created box covers and marked them private, this way I can pull them up through Kodi with my AUTH KEY and have a category automatic to pull from anytime I switch devices which is nice. Its all open source and I feel it should stay that way in our hands as users of these devices anyways. We really just pay for the hardware and main software to run things. Be nice if TMDB suggests this to them if they talk, might remove serious headaches in the future

Apparently you forgot that this firmware was recalled. And subsequent firmwares were intended to eliminate the problems that it (1.1.80) brought
Remember how often firmware for Z9X was released in the first year and a half after its release. The work was simply in full swing. There was not even a thought to write something negative on the forum

this is why i got rid of my Zappiti Neo. Apparently Zappiti went bankrupt because of the ripping possibilities of their NAS. They then started again with R-volution. However, if you still had a Zappiti player, which in my opinion was not that bad, you had to pay €50 for something you had already paid for when you bought that device. No thanks. Then I switched to the Zidoo Z2000 and when the Z3000 pro came out I believed the nice promises and switched. Fortunately I was able to suppress the urge to update after FW 1.1. 70 so my Z3000 pro works fine except for the TMDB case.

I understand when some people write that it's just a player and if it doesn't work properly, you can do something else, even make wine :) . This would be okay if it was given for free, but that's not the case. It's quite interesting that you pay money and get a promise that it will work properly, but instead, there are serious playback and other problems. But then at least you could go back to a fw that was a little better. But it's just the waiting and it's been 1 year and there are still so many annoying bugs.
