What is most alarming, and also most disappointing, is that there is no official communication on the subject from ZIDOO. This is contemptuous !!
I'm starting to look at R_Volution...

Really frustrating although stutters are not my case fortunately. But one thing is common for all of us, the evidence that Zidoo is lacking of devs or simply wrong in commercial strategy while failing to fix the major issues on the fly.

They pushed out a fw release for Eversolo on Friday from what I can see, so fingers crossed it won't be long.

I still believe Zidoo is one of the best choices. R_volution is a solid brand as well, but from what I’ve heard, their customer support is even less reliable.
I know the TMDB scraper issue is very annoying but a fix will be released very soon.

Also I was wondering if the stuttering issue is related to a specific DV profile? I experience it on UHD releases with DV profile 7, but it seems that "Hybrid releases" are going fine at the moment with current firmware. They mostly have DV profile 5 or 8/8.1.

Well Mark said that himself a couple of days ago. A fix has been received... With me saying it will be released soon i meant that in the upcoming days it will be applied.
I don’t believe Zidoo would wait another two weeks to roll it out if they’ve already received the solution. I could be wrong of course, but at some point, it also comes down to trust.

R_volution Just acknowledge a few days ago there was a problem with VC1 on Amlogic Socs.

When a pointed it out like in January or February that this was a common problem on Dune and Zidoo alike, i was answered by someone in charge with user relation ( but not working for Rvolution) that R_volution was not Zidoo nor Dune ( which is not completely true) and that i was the only one mentioning the problem and that i should spend more time looking at movies than searching for a problem.

trust me , when i tell you we are very lucky with @Markswift2003 , i mean it.

R_volution are really good with their app , which is stable and constantly evolving. But when it comes to hardware/FW, as they do not deal with it themselves apparently, they cant be responsive. I believe it has to go through Dune devs first.

I do trust Zidoo to give us what we expect with our boxes. Wait and see.

I honestly don't know how anyone can say that when:
    1) They release a box with a serious lipsync issue. It's been 9 months and it still hasn't been resolved.
    2) They release an update that makes it impossible for the box to play Dolby Vision content, i.e. it makes the box a parallel. It's been 24 days and it still hasn't been resolved.

Everyone is free to do whatever they want with their money, but they won't catch me again. This has a name: joke.

    i understand.

as a comparison , i encountered the same lip sync issue with my R_volution 8k. which i believe , is still not adressed by R_volution. ( the box is also 1 year old approximately).

Some manufacturers update their firmware twice a year ( even with major problems on their products) i dont feel disrespected as i customer to get an update once a month. i guess i'm just patient.

I used to maintain the firmware for the Beyonwiz brand. Official (supported) releases have been rolled out as often as was deemed necessary. That ranged from every few weeks to every few years, depending on the maturity of the product and the feedback from the users.

Every user had the option to switch to the beta release feed. During active development, this could receive beta updates several times a day, but it was more common to see updates on a weekly basis.

All updates were available as incremental packages - similar to diff updates, except the packaging system could update from any previous version. All official releases and the vast majority of the beta releases were also available as full firmware images that could be flashed to restore the box to "from factory condition". There were no restrictions on roll-back. The user could use any firmware version that they considered best for their use.

In my opinion, that is the right way to manage firmware releases if your goal is customer satisfaction. You can never predict how things will unfold in the future. Giving users the ability to go back to a known state is a basic courtesy.

And for what it's worth, I would have pushed out fixes or workarounds for an outage like the TMDB problem within hours. And of course, there would have been a global sticky announcement on the forums to keep users appraised of the progress as soon as the problem was discovered. All that is totally doable, even as a one-man-show.

    To summarise, I think:
Zidoo should make complete firmware images available so that users can roll-back.

This kind of attitude is exactly the reason customers are jumping ship from Zidoo. What matters to anyone in life is relative... Most appreciate the fact that they can spend the day hiking with their family, and then watching a movie in the evening with no issues. I'm glad your world isn't small, but are very ignorant about what's important in people's lives. If Zidoo charges people $1500 for a product, it should work, and they should be communicating when it does not work.

This whole saga with the new AML SOC and Zidoo’s handling of it as a company is beyond a joke!

I think that Zidoo realized quite a long time ago that they can't tame the AML S928X (I think they realized it already when they released the players. But at that time, too much time and effort had already been spent on this chip (about two years), so they couldn't refuse to release players on the AML S928X). I think that now they are already working on a new, more promising chip, which is why firmware updates for the AML S928X are released so rarely and there are so few fixes. Of course, I want to hope for the best, that in a week or two a large-scale update will be released that will fix most of the problems and we will no longer have to dance with a tambourine to just watch a movie without reboots, reboots and constant searches for such files, which, based on experience, should cause fewer problems during playback.

Hi, is anyone having issues with matching titles on TMDB? No on my web interface it says Empty data and on my Zidoo interface it says no marching titles… i can’t remember if this started to happened before or after the last firmware update. This titles i’m having issues are popular titles.

My movies are located on a NAS harddrive so i do have access so the issues i guess is not relates with a network firewall.
    any ideas on this?

Got the R_Volution 8k and the interface is horrible and I don't think they are any quicker at getting things sorted

The R_Volution is essentially an overpriced Dune with a posh frock - they're built by the same OEM and use the same software contractors for the firmware and application layer. Nothing wrong with that, but both tend to use smoke and mirrors - Dune maybe more so since they are less restricted by policy.

By comparison, Zidoo/Eversolo manufacture their own products - both hardware and software, including firmware and application layers.

R_Volution tend to look a bit more dynamic than Dune due to their app driven approach to the boxes, but that doesn't really justify the price premium in my opinion, although the differences have narrowed from where they were. And I'm sure Dune's geography doesn't help them, hence they've relied on full OEM solutions recently.

Why does it matter if a product doesn't work? Why would I, as a customer, care about who develops in house and who doesn't?
All I care about is that the thing I bought for a very niche purpose work as intended. As simple as that.

This topic has been tragicomic to read for the past couple of days.

Not to the mention the 50 euro annual sub (at the moment.com) for the Video Media Centre App.

the 50 euros subscription only applies if you dont have a R_volution ( if you wanna R_video on pc, or on a Zappiti player).
