Even if there is a lot of grumbling here at the moment, you also have to bear in mind that this is a forum where you can write down your feedback about a product that is constantly being further developed. Our feedback, whether negative or positive, must be weighted equally.

The fact that the new FW is currently extremely annoying for many is a sign that the Zidoo software team has a lot to correct at the other end.
If the MOD then says we shouldn't all get so upset because there are other problems in real life, I understand, but this attitude would make this forum useless.

A bottle of wine won't help if you want to enjoy it during a cosy film evening.

I disagree. 1 or 2 (maybe a few more) posters are simply venting their frustration because they believe Zidoo are going to react to their individual messages - why else plant off the long established members on this forum? OK so you may think we are so called "Fanboys" we are not - we too grumble about issues but the one main thing that divides, who I think are the prats who haven't been on here long is the simple fact they haven't read the Stickies and related posts, before they vent their feelings.

Again I'll say if you are planted off then tell Zidoo not the members on here - I have already posted how - and I think banning a few so called prats should be considered

Movie scraping is a major part of HT5 and should be addressed as a priority. If it needs a firmware to fix why don't Zidoo fix the API key in the current firmware and send it out as a hot fix?

Confusingly Zidoo techs do sometimes post in the forum e.g @Zidoo Support-Kim. However they seem to be selective on what they chime in on. Never for the big ticket items!

In your opinion - I never use Movie Scraping - I rely on my "Folder/File Naming Convention".

HT5 is a major selling point for Zidoo so I think its important! But I'm not going to get hot and bothered by it. I can find latest movies in the 'unmatched' section for now.

The latest firmware has a problem that was not there before. The child watches cartoons. These are BDRip 1080p h265 files. In the second half of full-length cartoons (after 1 hour of viewing), video stutters are observed. If you interrupt viewing and restart the file, the file continues to play without problems. Sometimes the picture scatters into pixels (anywhere in the file). If you rewind, the scattering in the same place does not repeat.

726 replies to that thread already. So if I'd upgrade to the this firmware and things would get worse what would be the intended countermeasure from that moment on?

Maybe we should ask if zidoo would be willing to release the update for europe.

I had to reset my zidoo z9s to factory settings.
Unfortunately TMDB-scanning is also not working for my Z9S with HT. It seems as if all Zidoo devices are affected.
I really hope this doesn't mean I can throw my Z9s in the garbage can if an update is needed to fix the problem.
TVDB is working properly btw. Every series has been found successfully.

Figured see what has happened since and caught up on everyone's posts. Haven't bothered with my unit since the beginning of the week but take it we are still without a fix, which I suspect could be a hot minute.

I get how some view this is just a media player and need to be patient. I would be patient myself if it hasn't been about a full year and a half begging for support and help with my z2600 which seems to have been abandoned with patches and fixes. I can't even get that thing to play a movie without some form of glitch to this day so its just a dust collector. I know I am the one who chose to try again with an 8K model and with the negative experience I have already undertook that is very much on me for having hopes maybe a newer model equals a better experience.

Anyways on that note, I did pop in here to say something about the API with TMDB, there is a status page here @ https://status.themoviedb.org/

It does appear for a 6 minute moment on April 01 there was an issue with calls to images...not the api itself but images, this doesn't negate the current issues would have been that I am gathering from talks over at TMDB, especially when it was corrected quick by TMDB. I guess its down definitely to a firmware resolution needed by Zidoo which I don't get as to why because as far as I know nothing has changed with their API, unless Zidoo lost their API Auth key or there is some odd api ban due to a crazy amount of calls? I don't know just guessing here.

Anyways I do hope we find a fix, I know a lot of you care, and I still hope this company pulls out a hail mary and we just get to using things as they should be. I know about NFO's and routes around this issue but I I don't have time for that, I got my own business and I am not about to manually scan in 5000+ movies on my massive digital backup servers. So I will be patient and use another device in the meantime I have.

Final word, and I am sorry I write a lot but I have held my tongue a long time and just had to say it out loud for once the other day. Cool to call me a whiner or whatever, I got thick skin in that area but I do know personally I hit my limit of waiting on fixes and begging for support...this isn't just a one time problem for me, I am on model 2 with model 1 a dead duck pretty much. All I know is I do hope this company realizes owners of these devices do have friends and least for myself those friends do wonder if Zidoo is worth buying. And when those friends come by and want to pop in a movie to see how these players work and they see the kinds of issues, Zidoo has already lost customers, trust me I got about 10 friends already seen enough to go to Dune and other options. Thats not good guys, more to just oh I am mad and fix my stuff, I view bigger pictures than that.

Oh and I post in here because well....ever try Zidoo support for anything? I have and seems I get more answers here vs waiting months for a response if even that with what should be your go to route, gave up on that a long time ago

This evening I tried to watch the 4K bluray of Mufasa. It was a terrible experience... The film was full of stutters from start to finish. I also had guests for dinner and imagine how bad I looked! Believe me... I would have taken the UHD8000 and thrown it out the window!!! Now with all the patience that a person can have and I address the entire Zidoo team... does it seem normal to you that after having paid 1400 euros for the UHD8000, I cannot watch a film smoothly without problems? I think you are playing with fire because you really risk losing a large part of your loyal customers!! One thing must work well and that is smooth playback without problems. I can also accept the other bugs but at least the basic functioning must be 100% efficient... What the hell, we can't take it anymore!!

    1. Try temporarily outputting all content in SDR or SDR+SV10. The number of bugs should decrease. At least you will be able to watch the movie without shocking your guests.
    2. Also try to let this problem go. I think if anyone from the Zidoo team reads this forum, they look at our discontent through the filter of professional deformation - with dry indifference.

If the scraping problem drives you towards suicide...use something like tmm or similar for the time being.

I m still on 1.2.01 and It was a smart choice for me. I am waiting on a stable release and only after that I will update again.

Indeed, as much as I'd like a fix for b0rken TMDB, I do not want to also get all the changes that were introduced after 1.2.01.

If the fix is the modification of a TMDB key stored in a config file, I don't mind doing a bit of "manual" work to update it. For example, create backup, modify config, restore backup. Heck, if I can get adb working, I'm quite happy to edit in-place. I'm not scared of vi. :D
